Why I bought Ann Coulter's Book Godless

This is my third Ann Coulter book. I like to read many other points of view as well.
Ann says what so many Americans think, and likes to add some punch. The first few paragraphs of chapter five say alot about why I enjoy the freedom to read what I want, and why its still thankfully that way in 2006.

Chapter 5
Liberals are perennially enraged that republicans are allowed to talk back. For years, this wasn't a problem, because, in Lenin's immortal words, they had seized the telegraph office. There were only three TV stations, three main newspapers and and a handful of national magazines, all run by liberals. But since Rush Limbaugh got a microphone, liberals haven't been able to make arguments in a vacum.

The lefts long-running monologue had become a dialogue, and they didn't like one bit. So now they constantly try to re-create a world where they can hurl slander and treason without anyone arguing back.

They needed a doctrine of infallibility.

The appearance of FOX news channel nearly drove liberals berserk: They were supposed to control 100 percent of news dissemination. When conservatives used to criticize the media, liberals always acted perplexed and indignant at the idea that a news network could have a political bias.

I used to like FOX news till the morning show turned into a paid political ad for Dubyah. FOX is now just another channel that caters to its viewing group

they say the Democratic Party has been dumbed down to which I agree. Ann Coulter is the dumbing down of Conservatives and the Republican Party.
 
While I don't agree with all of it that I've seen and what I've read from her in the past, it is nice to have the pendulum swing the other way for a while. Though sometimes overboard IMHO, she does make some valid points that need to be made.
 
Such as invading all the muslim countries, killing thier leaders and converting them to christianity?

What a sensible and tolerant person that is. :rolleyes:
 
Back when she said that, it would be fair to say most American's where thinking the same thing.

We won't bring up President Bill Clintons use of the N-word in front of the Arkansas state police now will we:)

I don't agree 100% with everything anyone says. I think that's part of what makes me an individual. She does, however, makes some statements that ring true to me.
 
Exactly. She makes some good points every now and then. So does Rush Limbaugh. So does (gasp) Al Franken. They're still assclowns. There's nothing wrong with getting an Anne Coulter book or, for that matter, a Michael Moore book. Just don't fool yourself into thinking you're getting a straight examination of fact.
 
All these media whores pepper their garbage with some truth. Pulls in the credulous. She and others are not actually interested in dialogue, btw. Each side is more interested in shouting down the other side.
 
She is no less sensible or tolerant than shumer, kennedy, biden, feinstein, and on, and on, and on. These are the people who have been calling me a racist, sexist bigot, homophobe my whole life. I don't much care if they get their panties in a twist cuz the mean bwond wady said something they don't like. I like her because she says what alot of other people think. Is she sometimes caustic? yup. Is she rigid? absolutely. She does to them what they do to us with impunity. I cant wait to read her book. ERIC

Shenanigans. If they're enraged about anything it's the fact that conservative pundits don't talk back directly and rationally. Instead, they choose to name-call and make up facts as they go along. Like Annie here, Rush, Hannity, Savage, Moore, Franken, and all the rest of 'em.
You may agree with what she's sayin'....but that doesn't mean it's true.
If I were a liberal I wouldn't be enraged at all tho' I might pretend to be when the political theater warrants it. Why? Because she does a better job embarassing the right than the left. She's a walking strawman and the left loves to use her arguments to paint the right as a bunch of shrill irrational liars.

Let's try an experiment: does she have any passages in that book referencing RKBA?

Sorry didnt vote for Clinton either time. He is on myu bad list along with Coulter.

Less than 20% of the worlds muslims are Arab, about half the the muslim population lives in South and Southeast Asia. Muslims are about 1/5 the world population. Which proves that most folks were not thinking when they thought that. That is lynch mob mentality.

I'd almost bet that Ann is loving all of this....

hey, Fox is just a balance against CNN, the network that shills for the Democrats. Dems are just grouchy because Fox does a better job.

.......by the way, I buy her books, and attend her talks in person because I pretty much agree with her positions. yeah, I am a right winger, and not a bit reluctant to say so. Thats more honest than some that post here, who claim to be unbiased, but every post of theirs has a most definite left wing slant.

Fox is a balance against almost every other mainstream news outlet! It eats them up that Fox is kicking their butts.

I think that those of us who are complaining about her have also made it clear that we don't like it when the left does it either. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You're a mod here so you tell me:
If Ann Coulter was a member of this forum and carried out the same behavior that she does in real life, how long would it take for you to ban her?
That's why we don't like her.
Or at least that's why I don't like her.

It does amaze me how many Republican presidents and congressmen were elected back when "liberals controlled the media".

I also dont like what the left has been dishing out for years. Franken, Moore, Jackson and Sharpton and others are not my cup of tea either. Ann in exhibiting the same traits as that select crowd. Just change the words from Conservative and Republican to Democrat and Liberal and you have the same thin gruel that is being served.

I dont watch CNN either nor ABC, NBC, FOX, MSNBC or CBS. Nor do I like canned Tuna.
 
Ann Coulter is entertainment. She uses the same over the top personal attacks that we see all the time from agents of the left. When Cindy Sheehan does it against Bush, CNN, ABC, CBS, & NBC follow her around, because "it's news." There is no shortage of people using these tactics on the left, and the MSM treats all their utterances as valid political discourse.
Coulter is a lightning rod because she uses those tactics against the left, and it's rare to see anyone doing that. It drives the leftists crazy. Still, they seldom attack her facts, they usually just call her mean spirited.
If you can't see the humor in this, well, don't laugh.
 
Ann Coulter's 9/11 widows rant, I think will make her a Black Sheep of the Republican Party and other conservative shows. Stick a fork in her because she is done. I'm getting sick of both the ultra liberal and ultra conservative talking heads.
