Why do you own a Beretta 92?

I got mine because I live in a ban state and the Beretta 92 has pre-ban mags that are readily available. With that said I traded mine last month for a Glock 17 which I also have and can get pre-ban mags for. The Beretta is a great gun and I will probably own one again, but the smaller size, lighter weight, and larger capacity of the 17 just made more sense to me. Also when power stroking the Beretta I would say 1/3 of the time I would accidentally engage the slide mounted saftey.

Power stroking?

Yes, I also wish my 92FS was a "G" model also as you can accidentally engage the safety when using an overhand grip to rack the slide.

I realize the 92 had been around a long time prior to the 1985 US Mil adoption, but that is when the gun really became popular.

I bought mine a long time ago when they first became available to the civilian market. I bought it because I figured if the government picked it out, it must be a good one. I was right.

Berreta 92

I bought one of the Italian police 92S models that became available not long ago. Black bluing.
I picked up one "like-new" for $330 +FFL fee. I think it may be the best hand gun I have personally ever fired. Getting it for about 1/2 of retail price was just a bonus. I have pretty large hands for a guy my size so it felt great the first time I took it to the range. I also picked up a couple of mags for very reasonable price. It has run flawless the few times I took it to the range and I like how easy it is to break down for cleaning.

This is my "night stand" companion choice these days.
