99% for the 2 legged predators. The only other predators around here that would pose a danger to humans are coyotes, feral dogs, and maybe rabid coons. So anything that would take care of a 2 legged animal would take care of those.

Me too. I am not really worried about a coyote or mountain lion trying to have me for dinner, more about the meth-head who wants steal my wallet and leave my body in a ravine, or the pot growers that are becomming more common on public lands. Four legged mammals don't worry me, its the two legged kind you have to watch out for.

I voted other. Reminiscent of the old saying about the parachute. You may never need it, but if you do need it, and you don't have it, you'll never need it again. :)

Feral Hogs, Big Foot, snakes, wild dogs, injured deer, moonshine stills, meth labs, marijuanna ranches.

Humans, Moose, and Mountain Lions.

Mountain Lions are very low on my list of threats, but I was stalked by one for nearly a mile, about 12 years ago. Warm fuzzies, it did not give.

Although I have had several run-ins with bears, I'm more 'afraid' of an encounter with Moose. They are brutal, relentless, territorial creatures, that you often only become aware of when it's too late. Stomping faces is a hobby for them.

For the same reason I carry one anywhere else- for protection against the unexpected violent encounter. Of course in the woods I also carry a rifle (270 Win or 30-06).

In the woods, I almost never worry about protection. For me that's an urban concern. It's nice to know the pistol I carry for plinking or hunting will serve other purposes if need be.

Not woods, desert.
My tramp around the desert gun is this.

S&W Mod 28-2.
Good enough to take all kinds of critters from no legs all the way up to 4.

Same reason I carry one while I'm out in the City or out in the

suburbs or ...... you get the picture.

I voted 'human predator' and I guess that is still true when walking in the woods the rifle I carry is for bear if they get after my dog.

For anything that may need to be shot, when I'm not expecting to have to shoot something.

If I am planning on shooting something in the woods, I generally will be carrying a rifle, or a shotgun, in addition to a handgun.
