a 60 something pervert was arrested today in texas for repeatedly flashing a clerk in a mexican pastry shop. good, im glad they got that weirdo. the allegedly traumatized clerk was interviewed and surprisingly  doesnt speak a word of english.

its 99% that she is here illegally, so where is the enforcement of that law? what good is a law if its not enforced?

And that is because it has been deemed racist to teach full emersion english in our schools

Which, I might add has been proven to teach english to students in 1 school year.

I started school in NYC speaking not one word of English . I was part of the NYC By Lingual program . You sit apart from the class "By" yourself until you learn the "lingual". At the end of the second grade I was speaking and reading the English language . ALL of my family that were considered "first generation" became fluent as well . My grandfather ran a business frequented by mostly English speaking people in Brooklyn NY . Of course we all spoke German at family functions but never spoke it in front of anyone that came as a guest and did not understand it . Something about being polite which many recent and even older immigrants seem to have missed in the "melting pot" memo . Comprende ?

"its 99% that she is here illegally, so where is the enforcement of that law? what good is a law if its not enforced?"

So, you're making the ASSUMPTION that she's illegal because she doesn't speak English?

What good are assumptions if you don't have definite facts?

This thread is offensive! :barf:

My grand parents on both sides dont speak english fluently, they can get an idea across if needed, but they cant hold a conversation.

My fathers parents speak italian, grand father speaks english with a heavy accent, my mothers parents speak nothing but spanish. they are all american citizens, my grandfather fought in the korean war before he became a citizen, he joined as a legal alien.

Why should this thread be offensive? I belive that their is a big, nay huge difference between your grandparents coming to this country LEGALLY, as did mine, than the Mexicans who sneak into this country ILLEGALLY. That's the difference. Coming here ILLEGALLY is a criminal act. At one time, one of the requisites to be a citizen was a working knowledge of the ENGLISH language. Now, those taking the test not only do not have to know English, but can take the test in their native language. Betcha $5.00 your grandparents and mine didn't have that break.
Those of us who live close to the Mexican Border have a damn good idea of how many cross illegally every day. I shoot with members of the Border Patrol at my local range and have become friends with a few. In an eight month period, in the Tucson sector, they arrested over 100,000 illegals, and figured that was about one-tenth of the what actually crossed in that time frame. These were facts that were released to the local news, but I'd heard them proir to being released.
I'd have to say, that if the girl in question could not speak English, his bet that he was 99 percent sure she was illegal was probably a sure thing bet. Probably fall into the sucker bet class really.
My problem is not with the people who come here legally; it's the illegals that are the problem.

Paul, one does not have to be a citizen to be a legal, working resident of the US. And I believe a demonstration of some English skill IS still part of naturalization.

What is raising hackles is Snoopy's assertion that a woman who doesn't speak English must of course be an illegal alien. Which is of course absurd and inflamatory.

i dont care who they are or where they came from. if they are here they need to be able to speak english. it should be a requirement to get a green card. i think that we need to limit imigration a lot more than we do too, but thats another can of worms.

I work corporate security, At one of the buildings I work at, 3 years ago the INS came in and arrested the ENTIRE cleaning crew. They had been working there for years. 4 Men pulled up, wearing black suits, and kindly asked to see the building manager. 20 minutes later the entire cleaning crew was walking out in handcuffs. All of them were mexican, maybe one could speak a word of english. But on their side, most of them were extremely had workers.

thats what we need MORE OF.

as for my assumption that this woman is illegal, i did say its 99% that shes illegal, a pretty safe assumption seeing as how there are an estimated 12-15 million ILLEGALS here already.

most people who move here LEGALLY will know atleast some english, they want to be able to assimilate and be a contributor to thier new country. the ILLEGALS, couldnt care less about learning english, they dont HAVE to because we cater to them, government documents in spanish etc.... its absolutely rediculous.

"This thread is offensive! "

well berettacougar, let me tell you what offends me.

my tax dollars being used to support a LARGE group of people who snuck into the country ILLEGALLY.

the fact that i see more mexican flags flying proudly than i do American flags.

picking up empty beer bottles,cut-rate soda cans, candy wrappers,etc.. on a DAILY basis from my yard. where did they come from? the house next door, a family of mexicans. i would complain, but they wouldnt understand me.

people like JAMMER SIX , who claim that "everytime a mexican crosses the border,we get stronger"

i have never complained about people who immigrate legally, those people dont offend me at all, people who have a bleeding heart for the illegals do offend me.

This was sure a subject to lite a fuse on! But just food for thought... If a person illegaly crosses the border from Mexico, and it cannot be determined that his nationality is Mexico, they can't be deported back. Not just hispanics comming up that avenue anymore.

Our immigration service and our immigration laws are broken, period. Our elected officials are doing very little to correct this vast problem. Closed borders and enforced "LEGAL" immigration is the only course of action to take if our country is to survive. Find this offensive? Take a hike south, far south.
