Why do High Standard and Iver Johnson revolvers look alike?

What an interesting thread this is turning into,,,

What an interesting thread this is turning into.

I'm picking up tidbit of knowledge that are interesting to me.

I had no idea that Iver Johnson developed the transfer bar safety.

SNS

I was not going by def. under 68 regs. I was going by collector slang.
What's the racist deal on SNSs? I never herd that one before.

I have 2 IJ, 1 H&A & 1 H&R top break 32 S&W revolvers. They are so close in size and looks I think most people would be hard pressed to tell them apart. The IJ's are easier to identify with the owls head grips.

Racist

PG ! I wasn't calling any body a racist. I was asking JK what Saturday night
specials had to do with racist. I have never herd of that before. JK had it in
his above post.

I'll have to be careful with this. There used to be an expression for a really wild weekend night in certain communities, "a [blank]town Saturday Night". That was the origin of the term "Saturday night special", supposedly a cheap handgun used by some members of that community in making a wild night wilder.

I browse on Gunbroker quite a bit,,,
One thing I have noticed is that the High Standard and Iver Johnson revolvers look so very similar to each other.
If you are looking at contemporary models of each, the similarity is that both are selling rebranded Armscor 200 series revolvers under their respective names.

Hello Aguila,,,

If you are looking at contemporary models of each,

Nah, I was referring to the older handguns,,,
It just seems to me that they have an old-world look to them.

Whereas S&W and Colts were a more utilitarian design,,,
The others I mentioned all went for a bit of style in their shape.
