Why can't there be more Tamaras

Hammer of Thor

I don't know, Tamara. My first few shots with a 10MM Glock felt like the "Hammer of Thor" to me! (Or something "nuclear".) I had my "Pro-Ears" on and I could hear the comments up and down the line. "WHAT was THAT"??

Tamara,

I have no experience with "a little black dress" so I'll leave that one alone.

On a more serious note, I couldn't agree more with your position on carrying. I am constantly confronted by this attitude in my CCW classes. It usually goes something like, "I'll only carry a gun when I need one." I always tell them, if they know what day and time they are going to need one, DO SOMETHING ELSE THAT DAY!

There are more options out there than most people think about, and a mouse gun isn't always the only answer. Pocket, ankle, shoulder holster, border carry, belly band, and the list goes on. I'm not talking about everyday wear but those occasions when your usual carry won't work.

Final analysis, the first rule of a gunfight is...have a gun!

"F'rinstance, they clash horribly with a little black dress."

I'm going to sit here quitely and picture Tamara packing heat in a "little black dress":D

Where does a person pack heat in a "little black dress"
I'll have to watch VIP and try to figure it out.

It's all been said before but... I think that if you're in a place where you can't COMFORTABLY cc a bigger weapon, a 32 would be fine. I know I would be scared shirtless if I was shot at by even a 22 short. I think a 32 would act as a deterent in most cases and I'm not convinced that several shots fired COM by a 32 would fail to stop most attackers. As everyone here knows, there's a lot more to self-defense than caliber size. Carrying a gun everywhere (legal) all the time is one aspect and if you can't carry a big gun than a small one is better than none.

As to the .32 ACP round, why did the OSS guys in Europe seem to like that round better than the .380? Both were/are common in Europe.

I'm with notbubba on this one, can we get back to the little black dress... I may have to coach my wife on that one?? :D :D :D (and anything going "bang" at a BG is better than nutin)

For the Lady, the Ruger SP101 in .357 is probably the best gun to start with. A light gun is no good, for mass must be traded for control. The SP101 is just about perfect. Go for the snub and spurless hammer.

spooker609, (and RH Factor too) you need to drive and hour and 40 minutes southwest of you to West Louisville (west side of Owensboro) to Whittaker's Guns. It's not close to me but I always drive out there when I have shopped elsewhere - and they have the best price every time. I have bought 9 of my 12 guns there and been quite satisfied. I took my wife in there and we handled everything in there till we found one for her (Glock 26). Several women work there that shot and they are all familar with most guns. Plus they stock everything (Beretta, Kimber, SA, H&K, Glock, Ruger, S&W, etc.) And if you have a question about anything firearm related and Mr. Whittaker himself can't answer I would be amazed.

I will try Diamondmaster's this weekend because I will be going to Lexington. I wondered into Antique and Modern Firearms weekend before last and Evans (?). Bought a Cold Steel knife from Antique. I am just starting to get familar enough with Lexington to make my "rounds".

I totally here ya. My soon to be wife in......Jesus Christ, 2 months left? Anyway, She too have small hands and stands at 5'3". She goes to the range with me most of the time and complains about my guns being too big, too heavy, or too much recoil. Now to talk about real guns, lol!:D I am looking at getting her a SiG P232 .380. She is so damn picky though. She likes my P220ST and P226, but they are way too big for her. Recommended a uger or S&W .38 revolver, she don't like the looks of revolvers, geez! Then I said the P232 .380, nope! Don't like the looks either! I honestly think that the SiG P232 is the perfect one for her, size, fit, looks, and recoil wise. But she likes that semiauto look of the classic Sigs style guns. So now, I am also looking at a P229 in 9mm, the compact version of the P226. I think that it maybe still abit big to hold for her, but we'll see. Shotguns are a no no! And of course, everyone will recommend it for SD. But I don't like the fact that it is big and long and can be taken easier from her than a psitol. The only good thing is, like me, she too has martial arts background. Women!

When succuessful human cloning starts,

I'll order MY Tamara immediately...

what more could a guy want, but a gorgeous blonde, smart, extremely knowledgable in firearms, in a little black dress, packing heat, and riding a motorcycle!

and she would lilely even ENJOY it when I brought home a new gun, and would also likely bring home her OWN new guns!

I'd also have a full time shooting partner!

if that isn't heaven here on Earth, I dunno what is!

I think I would rather there be more than one Tamara. It would definitely increase my chances...;)

I was seriously tempted to make a comment about women in little black dresses, and me carrying their gun for them, but I don't want to get banned.:D

Most people that work at gun stores are EXACTLY like those who sell cars - they are morons. They know little about firearms but claim to know all. Heaven help you if you ask a question - prepare for the barage of ignorance and egoism. I actually hate going into most gun stores for that very reason. The single exception is a store that is nearly three hours away, which is how far I traveled to buy my last gun.

Rock_Jock,

I work in a gun store and I will be the first to tell you if I don't know something. If I give my opinion I will say it is "MY" opinion!

If you ask my advice I will tell you what I think but in the end I always tell the customer that he/she has the final word.

What I have learned in my time is that nobody knows everything!
That includes me. If I don't know something I will try and find out!
Honesty and integrity will make your business successful over time. Treat everyone with respect and answer all questions politely. No question is a dumb question if a customer asks. The only dumb question is oft times the one you don't ask.

PATH

P.S.

By the by I have heard tell of some gals wearing a .25 in a garter like device under their skirt. Honest folks!;)

There is only one Tamara and she is a pearl of great worth.

Well then PATH, you are to be congratulated. As I mentioned in my post, there ARE exceptions and if one can find a gunshop employee that has your attitude, they are worht their weight in gold.
