Why Arizona is a GREAT State

Yep, if it wasn't for that Smoke Free Az act, we'd be perfect.
BTW, for the Cali, we have miles of beach, too! No flippin' water, but oodles of and!:p
Did you know we have official firearms instruction optional for public schools? If they use it, range time is mandatory to pass...don't know of anybody doing it yet, but I'd love to see it offered as an elective somewhere.

Hate rain on your parade but Wyoming rates an F. And dang proud of that stat. I think that I'll take my son out to the range for a little paper target destruction in honor of the superior grade! :)

I did live in AZ for about 7 yrs (Tempe) and Arizona really IS a great state. If I had to move I would probably end up in AZ.

AZ has plenty of space for gun people, looking for a few more firearm manufacturers to set up shop.
Deep breath, here we go - no licensing, no registration, no "safety inspection", no waiting period, no ammo ban, no AWB, no magazine limit ban, no FOID, no permit needed to carry open, Shall-Issue 5 year CCW permit, 8 hour class, no class or fingerprints for renewal, no one-gun-a-month, public places required to provide safe storage if they don't want legal firearms inside, Anti-Katrina confiscation law in place, public ranges everywhere, (Ben Avery Range named a "Jewel of the State", by our Deomcratic gov!), whew, running out of breath!

Oh, yeah, no civil liabilty for justified shooting, either, by law. Castle Doctrine in place.
Did I miss anything? Oh, yeah, no requirement to go through an FFL for law abiding private transfer.
Hmm, keep thinking I forgot something...

They have Idaho listed as an F+ ... I wonder, can I get them to drop the "+"?

They have us listed as being illegal to carry concealed in school zones.

SCHOOL ZONES
Is it illegal for CCW permit holders to carry guns into schools? Yes

State law restricts carrying firearms on school grounds, except for law enforcement personnel. Even people with permits to carry concealed weapons (CCW) are prohibited from carrying weapons onto school grounds.

That's a mistruth. You can go to the School Board and get permission. It's written into the statutes; 18-3302D(4)(f): "Notwithstanding the provisions of section 18-3302C, Idaho Code, a person or an employee of the school or school district who is authorized to carry a firearm with the permission of the board of trustees of the school district or the governing board."

Depending upon where you live, getting permission can be ridiculously easy.

Thanks for posting that Brady site--it's cool to be able to find out which states don't have overly restrictive gun laws! I wonder if there are similar websites where I could find out other things that affect life in different states, like auto emission laws, tax info, crazy dog laws (breed bans, mandatory neutering), etc.

Your welcome. The antis have provided the law abiding gun owner a great resource there. Condering a move or a job in a new state? Check which State gets an F and there is where to be.

Bruxley,

Are you the guy who posted this same thing in another forum?

Take care of the serious immigration problems and anti-American protests in your state and maybe I'll believe your statement. For example:

http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/0327peoplemarch.html

Point, is, there's big trouble brewing in AZ, especially Tuscon (look at those City Council meetings on YouTube), Southern CA and coming soon to NM and TX.

There's more to being a "Great State" than its RKBA stance you know.

And don't tell me about Texas...I already know it ain't great, either.

Try to get past one-issue thinking...it's so...well, limiting.

Just a reality-check for you,

AZ CCW problem

There is one big problem in Arizona and that is you cannot carry guns in a restaurant that serves alcoholic beverages. That is a big problem because you need to leave your gun in the car. No protection going in comming out or while you are eating. Also the danger of gun being stolen.

A D may not be as good as an F, but it's still reason to smile and be happy to live in Arizona as a gun owner...

Cloud,

I've not made similar posts elsewhere. I agree with your other 2 points however despite the prickly way you made them.

Our Govenor (Janet Napolitano....REMEMBER THAT NAME she has national ambitions) vetos every piece of legislation put before here that would enable LE to aid in the problem while SAYING she is against illeagal immigration. The problem is that illeagal immigration is a FEDERAL violation. State and local law enforcement have no juridiction, therefore no authority, to enforce immigration law unless parrallel STATE laws are passed. She has vetoed such benign legislation as allowing LE to even ASK someone about thier legal status, making illeagal entery into Arizona simply tresspassing so that LE could detain illeagals for Border Patrol. Voter reforendums are the only effective immigration law that has been implemented in AZ. It still took 2 years for Prop 200 to be enacted do to her administration fighting it. And all that said was that someone had to show that they were legally in the united states and Arizona residents to recieve State benifits, attend public schools, or to vote. Radical concepts eh. Still they fought like hell to quash it.

As for anti American protests. It was not covered that the PRO American demonstrations were going on at the same time. The pro American folks were colored as being 'antagonistic' by most coverage. Hate to say this but this is a 'sheeple' problem. Like a crowd watching an assault while nobody takes action. Anti American protests are leagal despite how grotesque a display it is. They SHOULD be happening while the protesters are booed and hissed by every person that sees them. They should see first hand, WHILE they are protesting, what a disgusting act they are committing. But people just act like they don't see anything and go about thier day.

All of the border States need to pay attention NOW. Not the legislators, not the Govenors, the PEOPLE. Voter reforemdums CANNOT be vetoed in AZ. The ONLY way to stop them is if they violate the US Constitution. Not the AZ Constitution, the US Constitution. Unpon passing they are an AMENDMENT of the AZ Constitution.

Sign and start petions for WELL WRITTEN legislation. They get ya with the techinacalities trying to keep it off the ballot. And get OTHER people involved. That is EXACLY how the cooks got most of the crazy stuff we see made law to happen.

Evil can only prevail when good men do nothing right......

haha nice way to turn an F into a positive, too bad that didn't work for me in grade school! i'm glad i decided to move to california after seeing this post lol
