Why are there almost no left handed handguns?

The H&K P7 PSP is just about as ambidextrous as a pistol can get. They have a heal clip mag release and no other external controls except for the takedown button. They're a damn fine weapon to boot.

Ithaca Model 37 shotguns eject their empty shells out the bottom of the gun, and that's another fine weapon.

charter undecover lite south paw

I am left eye dominant and ambidextrous for the rest. My first revolver was with my charter undercover lite southpaw 38. I shoot everything left handed and all semi autos seem to work for me in either hand.

The reason there aren't more left handed guns is purely monetary. There's not enough money in it to justify the cost. Would you pay another $200-$300 for your lefty gun over the righty model? Probably not, else you'd be in here asking "Why is my gun more expensive than yours?"

When I bought my 700BDL about 30 years ago, the LH version carried a $100 premium over the RH version of the same gun. In today's dollars, your amount is about right.

As to absolute ambidexterity, the P7 comes to mind as the closest I have seen (and own)

I bought a savage left hand rifle and never broke the habit of reaching over it for the bolt handle.

15 - 20% of people may be left handed ....but many of them have adapted to a right hand world for a long time / on all kinds of things ...as kids and adults..( even on things as simple as a pair or scissors ) ...

Since a lot of lefties learn to adapt at a young age ....they frankly seem more ambidextrous ....than most of us dominant righties ever seem to develop.

Precisely. Lefties simply have to learn early on to use tools of all kinds in this (right-handed) world. I have no issues using a gun clearly designed for a right-handed person. My SIG Sauer P6 has all of its controls on the "wrong" side for me, but I can reach them all just fine. Magazine release is activated with my left middle finger, and decocker and slide stop with my left thumb or trigger finger.

Ambidextrous designs are nice of course, but most lefties do just fine with standard controls placement.

left handed handguns

i agree if remington can make left handed shotguns whats so hard about left hand hand guns i would love to have a left hand revolver

Remington XP100

Remington XP100 is a bolt-action handgun. Since it was built on a right-handed bolt action rifle action, the bolt handle actually was most accessible to the weak (right) hand. So it really was more easily operable for a left-hander.

I wonder if that is why it is discontinued?

I shoot pistol left-handed and started out left-eyed. I shoot archery right-handed, a rifle and shotgun lefty and fence with a foil left and a saber, right. What's up with that? I believe it is because my right arm is stronger than my left.

I have a couple of Randall .45s but they are right-handed.

Addressing the question, I expect it is economics. Tooling up for a small portion of the market, most of whom have learned to adapt to the majority would not be economical.
