Why are Glock owners so emotional?

I'm not a handgun expert, nor do I play one on the Internet. I do, however, have a theory about this topic. People who don't like Glocks know they are simple, reliable, accurate, and durable. The fact that they still don't like them causes internal turmoil and the need to try to lesson the designs greatness in their minds. Who better to attack than those that defend the design? People that LIKE them for the reasons just sited don't like it when their logic is attacked by people acting out emotionally, hence the often-charged up emotional response.

Of course there is always those typical wise guys who are just having a little chuckle poking fun at people who like silly little plastic guns.... ;)

SM

I must dispell the "fume theory". I too shoot a plastic pistol (HK) and I am not overcome with the emotional vomit that I have seen spew forth from Glock owners when someone questions or kids them about Glocks when I am cojoled about HKs.

Then again, maybe it's a different plastic...

Oh yeah, almost forgot. Let me pose this about the 1911 Fanatics.

Maybe it's the fumes from too much oil?

Humor, Arrrrr!, Arrrrrrr!

There is a thread over on 1911 forums that epitomizes the way Glocks get attacked. All kinds of BS about how they are unreliable, and Glock just bribes writers to convince us that they are reliable, and that the mags wear out and that they are innacurate and all kinds of hogwash.

Do you really expect a bunch of 1911'ophiles to be enamored of tactical tupperware? I have nothing against a Glock, but I do get tired of having to explain to a great deal of IMO overly fanatical Glock owners why I will never own one. They are a good pistol, but for what they are, they're overpriced. I don't like the trigger. I don't like the grip, and I don't like polymer frames, whether it be a Glock, Sig, Taurus, Wilson etc. If you like them that's great, use what you are comfortable with, but when someone brings up a valid complaint about them don't start acting like my 13 year old niece when I make fun of the Backstreet Boys.

It's not the fumes. The combination of plastic and tennifer activated by hand sweat creates a hormonal imbalance causing *some* Glockites to behave in an irrational and hysterical manner. Btw,if Excalibur was plastic would King Arthur have bothered drawing it forth. In some cultures a warriors weapon is his soul. Which would you prefer,STEEL or plastic?

My biggest gripe with the Glockian religion is if you try to mention how your particular Glock is have a problem they immediatly attack your knowledge and capability as a gun handler. If it is a problem they suggest you buy an aftermarket replacement part while in the same breath they say how wonderful and insdestructable Glock is.

As far as that Glock accuracy thread is concerend, I posted one statement that none of them could refute. Out of the 15 articles I posess reviewing the Glock 30, none of them could get the gun to shoot a 1" group at 25yd from a "bench rest". If the gun can't do it from a rest then the gun can't do it.

You have to remane realistic about whatever gun you own. Not idealistic.

In case you're interested, I prefer Glocks, PCs, and Picard...[/quote]

Picard?! Oh, man! Captain Kirk is 10 times the man Picard is! Here's a few of the many reasons why:

1. The Klingons had no word for "surrender" before they encountered Kirk.

2. No self-respecting captain would allow his first officer to have more dates.

3. There is a drink called a "beam me up Scotty". There is no drink called a "make it so." :p

To make this post legit, I hereby deny being emotional about my Glocks (and my Rugers and Kimber, too). There is no such thing as the perfect handgun, and it's my belief that the Glock's shortcomings, either accidentally or by design, are more tolerable for its role as a defensive tool than any other gun.

Picard at least had the guts to let his bald head shine. Kirk wore a rug over his bald bean and covered his guts with a corset.

Glocks are better than 1911s. So there.

Warning: topic drift

Kirk grew up slinging hay bales on a farm in Iowa. Picard grew up stomping grapes at a vineyard in France.

I rest my case.

The topic was supposed to be why people are emotional about Glocks not why are they emotional about Spocks!

Anyway this has reached the 100K level. You know the drill...
