I think that even though they gave Ron Paul very little actual speaking time, he came off very well. It's nice to see a conservative in the presidential race.

Kinda weird seeing a conservative republican..

I think this race is going to be a slugfest.

I'm absolutely amazed that Romney is still doing well in polls. That guy is a disaster.

I'll bet my money on Huckabee even though I agree more with Ron Paul.

you mean Mitt "I'm a hunter" Romney and reborn NRA member. Hillary Clinton is more sincere than him...lol.

As far as being prepared AND not stumbling with his answers, Romney was the most polished. All of the other candidates were "okay", but from the public speaking standpoint, Romney came off sounding the best. I am NOT a fan of Romney's, but I think that he took the stage away from both Googliani and McShame.

I would have liked to have seen Fred Thompson there, but he still hasn't committed.

Overall winner? Ronald Reagan! I think that all of the candidates mentioned Reagan at least once, and it was obvious that Reagan has become the "standard" to try to live up to.

Debate

I agree also that Ron Paul came off well. Right by that Constitution. The more you get to know Ron, the more you like him. A true republican for the republic, controlled by the Constitution, not a Democracy ruled by special interests and NGA's using misinformed masses. He scares the bad politico and I like it. This is our chance freedom lovers and defenders of all the rights that we know and love. Spread the word like Paul Revere about Ron Paul.

To top things off, Giuliani is OPENLY exploiting 9/11 for political gain plain and simple.

Unlike the present occupant of the White House? :D

Anyway, no excitement for any of them. That's the best the country has?

I'm mildly interested in Richardson from the Dems but he has no chance.

Another election of two losers is coming up. :barf:

Lest there be any doubt, though, Ron Paul is 1,000 times superior to any 2nd place candidate.

Agreed. I use to think it was a waste to vote for a candidate whose platform you believed in but thought he could not possibly win. Then I voted for Bush who did win....now I know the true meaning of wasted vote!

Not only did Ron Paul come off well according to our decidedly Libertarian community, he did very well according to the MSNBC poll also.

Before the debate:

Giuliani: 41%
McCain 31%
Romney 28%

After the debate:

Romney: 31%
Paul: 30%
Giuliani: 28%

with 45,000 total votes cast thus far.

Here's to hopin'....

I searched the transcript and there was no mention of gun control. I wonder why?

I would have liked to see Mitt and Rudy deal with it. Also, the various 'hunters'.

The key questions to get at their core beliefs would be:

Yes / No

1. Do you think we should have a new AWB?
2. Do you support shall issue CCW laws?

Quick and to the point.

No need to hear that 'I support the 2nd Amend. and I am a hunter of ducks and various rodents'

Although Ron Paul was the only candidate who actually answered questions and didn't boast bout his own accomplishments, I'm not sure what the majority of people thought of him. I think he easily won the debate and really did help his campaign. So whether or not people can realize that he is the real deal or not is another issue. I really didn't like John Macain. I think he will spend way too much and install a more agressive foreign policy that would get us into a lot of trouble.

I didn't watch the debate but I do want to know which ones raised their hands when asked if they didn't believe in evolution.

I don't know who won but any of them most certainly lost.

Well if Fred Thompson doesn't run then I'll go for Romney. But as far as a winner? Anyone who did not waste time watching the "debate".
