Who uses the 45GAP?

It is only still here because Glock holds on to it and offers them to police units for bargain bin prices. The GAP in standard loading is hotter than a ACP... but an ACP in any premium JHP performs better, and is much easier and cheaper to buy.

I think all you naysayers on this thread just don't like the IDEA of a .45 GAP. For cryin out loud, you don't have to buy it, but it is just as good a concept at the .40 S&W; a cartridge that puts a "bigger" bore cartridge in a gun designed for a "smaller" bored cartridge. This gives people with smaller hands, or those who desire a smaller gun, an optional choice of a big bore round. Personally, I like the idea of a .45 pistol (G39) even smaller than the G36, as an option. I may not run out and buy it, but I like the concept. And I would certainly recommend it to those desiring a small, but big bore pistol to check out to see if THEY like it. I handload, so loading .45 GAP isn't going to be much different than .45 ACP, etc.

I don't know about "naysaying," as I find the cartridge interesting. The problem is that factory ammo is expensive, and as a guy just getting into reloading I don't want to start on a short, high pressure cartridge.

But I think the concept is a good one. It's just too expensive for me as it now stands, and I don't need the smaller grip-frames.

The link to the Glock 45 Gap is Email class@mailtribune.com . The phone number to the Mail Tribune is 541-776-2527 or toll free1-800-366-2527.

I would list the number that is in the paper, but could be violating form rules. As this is public knowlege and legal in Oregon to sell a gun in the paper I don't see a problem. Good Luck, Eagle

As far as the NYS Troopers going to the 45GAP the move made sense. As far back as I can remember a lot of the rank and file had been less than thrilled with the 9mm. It was a big step down from the .357 Magnum in performance. In the 90's the NYSP was going to switch to the .40S&W but downstate politicians got involved and the deal went south. The GAP meant they didn't have to change holsters or magazine pouches and they got the usual sweet deal from Glock and the "little people" still had a gun that fit their mitt.

the gap

I have a glock 38. i have always been a big 45acp fan.I have the same colt 1991a1 that i went through blet with.I have customized it over the years and it is a great shooting machine.I bought a compact 45 acp glock and hated it.blocky and heavy.pretty unhideable. When the gap came out I decided to try one.Always fun to have something new.First trip to the range was quite a shock.you get half the recoil of a standard 45. (?).Do not know why. The ballistics of a 45 plus p. In a thin, easy to grip frame that hides well.Whats not to love? I shoot the 200 grain speer gold dots.Try it ,you will like it!
