Who makes bolt action pistols in rifle calibers?

Actually, as long as it's at least 26" long overall and has a barrel of 16" what you have is a legal rifle, not a handgun at all. And yes, I've talked at length with a BATF agent about this. Now if your Jap has an overall length of 25.9999" or a barrel of 15.99999999" then you still don't have a handgun, you have an illegal rifle.

I'm a big fan of the Striker platform, but alas it too is off the production line. Although they are making nondesignated actions for the custom guys that make a fine pistol. The factory trigger on the striker is horrid and doesn't lend itself to fine tuning but there are those out there who do a great job. I've got mine to down just over a pound, but the safety is non functional now so it's a bench gun only.

I took it apart anyway even if it is 26 1/2 inches overall length and the barrel measures 16 inch when a rod is put down the barrel it just did not have the accuracy I thought it would.

Now I will use that stock and add a shoulder stock to it remove the barrel from the receiver and use a 30-06 barrel and turn it into a nicer rifle.

I already have a 7.7mm model99 Jap rifle I converted into a sporter stock so really no reason to have two of them but I can use a 30-06

Besides that one sure would not get the accuracy my 7.7mm rifle has with that shorter barrel anyway so I'll get a 30-06 barrel instead since I have 30-06 dies and some ammo but no 30-06 at this time.

Back to the drawing board and a bunch more of that saw dust flying around again Oh well gets my dust mask out again LOL

I'll fix it but it will just take some more time.

What was funny when I was converting that rifle into a sporter stock everyone said, "Those things are no good and have no accuracy at all".

That target was shot showing a friend how I could line up four shots right across a bulls-eye at 100 yards.

I guess I was off a little that day but it is far from not being accurate for sure LOL

What is it with that striker trigger anyway?

I was reading about that also and wondered then what kind of trigger job I will be doing when I get one of those.

Then I searched and there is not even a Savage Striker dealer located in Texas according to their web sight at Savage.

So now I’m thinking Ok I cannot put one on lay-a-way and I will just have to put some money on lay-a-way and find one at the gun show when it comes into town I guess.

I hate those gun shows anymore because the prices there have got way out of control lately and most of the firearms they are selling are $100 more than the same ones that can be bought for at any local gun shop.

I’ll check around at some of the stores also and maybe Cabela’s or someone like McBrides or Sportsmans Warehouse has some they are selling anyway.

I’ll be trying to get one in 7mm-08

Bolt Pistols

I own 4 XP100's ,2 Strykers, and the luv of my life an HS Precision. I just was given a new XP in 260 Remington and would like some help on loads, and after market trigger assemblies.

XP- 7mm/08
7mmBR
260 Rem
308
Savage- 308
HS Precision-7MM/08

I have an interesting one.It is a flling block single shot.Much shorter action length. It has a single action sixgun type grip frame, safe carry(transfer block)
Its made of 17-4,and quite strong.Mine is .260 Rem.Interchangeable bbls are possible.Sub MOA groups.Comes with a ringbase

While it is available with rimless cartridges,I would suggest choosing a rimmed cartridge. If a load gets at all sticky,my extractor would sometimes slip over.

It is an MOA Maximum

On the idea of making a pistol out of a rifle action,I'm not a lawyer or a BATF agent, but my understanding is,if it was born as a rifle, and you "convert" it to a pistol,The BATF sees it as a rifle that has too short of a bbl and LOA.

Maybe they ignore it,but, doggone, review the story of Randy Weaver. His troubles started when a couple of BATF agents asked him to shorten a shotgun bbl.

It is also worthy of consideration, the BATF of the Bush administration has a new boss.Certain discretionary policies can change over night.

You get no arguement from me about what "Should Be" I agree there isn't a lot of difference between a 16 in bbl and a 15 in bbl

Problem is,a cockroach who argues with a chicken is always wrong.

I 99% believe 99% of the time,BATF agents are just folks doing their job.I have no animosity toward them.I want to get along. But,only 99%.I save that 1 % to take good care of myself

But I will never forget what happened to Randy Weaver's family.I am not naive enough to trust, and I stay squeaky clean legal.Even if it seems stupid.

Read the book "Unintended Consequences"

Consider the fictional story of an Professional hunter returning from Africa with his trusty .470 nitro double (or equivalent) and it gets seized for having a front sight bead made of elephant ivory.A leopard skin hat band didn't help.

Be careful. One piece of hardware isn't worth a felony and losing your 2nd ammendment
