Who makes BLUE (COLOR, not BLUED) fully active pistols and WHY?

Most guns come in black, stainless, OD, FDE, and pink...but where does blue come from? The two on top of my head I can think of is Hk USP and Walther PPS. The simple answer would "more choices and options" but I cant seem to figure out why the color BLUE. Is blue designated for training?

Many guns that appear black are actually blued. I have several guns that are blue. S&W model 10-8, 2 Colt Pythons, Colt Series 70 MK IV Gov't Model just to name a few. If you are talking about training simulators there are 2 companies that make them. One makes them in red and the other in a medium blue.

Sorry for the confusion ...color blue, not blued (or hue from blueing process). Do you think theres a reason to offer a blue polymer fully functional live pistol? It makes the gun look a LOT less serious

Fully functional...im on mobile cant link any images but the Hk USP and Walther PPS were offered in blue/gray without any official training designation

Do you mean the bright blue plastic dummy guns for training?

The reason being to easily distinguish them as a dummy gun for training. Making a fully functional firearm in the same color would not be a wise thing to do!!!

From the link above:
Each gun is fabricated in "Law Enforcement Blue" - the most recognized safety color
in the world. Ask for “BLUEGUNS ", a realistic & safe alternative to using live firearms in training situations.

Well, neither one is really an "inert blue", and the USP is pretty obviously grey. If the PPS had that same baby blue on the slide I could see it being mistaken for inert, but it still looks like it means business to me.

I kind of like that PPS, though.

With all due respect this is a classic case of not reading the op original question...theres 2 separate posts clarifying the color blue and live firearm before your post. Now back to subject.

I've seen the guns you are talking about. I THINK if I remember correctly it was a taurus. it IS a real functional pistol, not the dummy trainers or a paintball pistol, they usually have them at Academy sports though I saw one at DFW Gun here in Dallas too... there is another gon co that does this but can't remember who it is... and you can get them refinished to this color too... so it may not be a factory finish you may have seen

Thanks! ill look into the taurus. While i cant find the codes for the USP I do know that HK made 500 in each color variation. The Walther PPS blue has an actual manufacturer code/sku assigned as WAP10102. maybe it is really just another color option

yup, there you go... it was walther... I actually have a Pink Taurus 24 7, and know for a fact they make them in in blue... BLUE-BLUE not BLUED

I'd imagine they are intending on appealing to the Navy crowd. OD Green for Army, Coyote brown is kind of the current color for the Marines, and then "Navy Blue" even though it's kind of a sea green or gray

I think the main reason certain companies are coming out with these less than traditional color designs is to target the ever growing market of women who buy firearms. More often than not women tend to gravitate towards what guns look cute, hence the reasons for all these companies coming out with pink firearms along with pink accessories like grips, ar stocks, uppers and etc.... Go to Sig's website and look at all the color variations of the p238. To the traditional shooter they may look horrifying, but to certain women or younger shooters they may have that neato factor.

Although I consider myself a traditionalist I do think the kel-tec P11 with stainless slide and navy blue frame looks pretty sleek
