Who carries multiple guns?

I carry the S&W 649 .357 snubby and cobra .38 derringer. Sometimes I carry one of them instead of 2, and I also have another snubby that was our first CCW(and is still used sometimes).

When I carry two, it's usually smallish 9mm's in a dual shoulder rig under a light jacket or sport coat... very balanced and comfy. In cool weather, the 511 holster shirts also work well... (I prefer the V-necks). Carrying two light 9's is easier and more fun than I thought it'd be back when I was just considering it. Occasionally, I'll substitute my Ruger SP101 .357 for one of them.

Nope. The only time I carry two guns is when I'm on the firing line of range. Shooting the gun in my hand, toting my CCW on my belt.

I don't see the need to add more to my daily carry gear; I'm hoping I'll never need the one gun, much less a second.

On duty? G35 in a duty rig and G23 in a concealment pocket on my jacket. Two mags on the belt and two in the jacket, all full size, 90 rounds total. That WAS my preferred setup until I switch to an FNX in place of the G35. If they make a compact FNX I will replace the G23, especially if they make a compact that uses the full size mags (pretty please FN!).

For ease of use and options, you can't beat the two Glock setup. I'm only switching to the FN because I shoot it better and it recoils lighter, important since my carpal tunnel flares up bad these days.

Off duty I carry one gun and two extra mags on the belt.

A 4" 1911 IWB at 4 o'clock, and a 642 in the front pocket, or coat pocket.

Why? Because in the unlikely event of a malfunction. Or the NY reload.

Plus you can shoot a 642 inside the pocket.

When traveling in the car the 1911 is beside me on the seat.

Better to have and not need, then to need and not have.

m&p subcompact .40 iwb or owb on strong side, and mod.60 .38 in the front pocket weak side...
Why? Depending on the situation I may not be able to get to one or the other, then you have NY reload or may have a malfunction.

My usual carry is a Browning Hi Power on strong side and 950b Beretta on ankle or front pocket. I also carry a folder.

The reason i carry a backup is mainly in case i am disarmed. Its one of the reasons i keep the mag safety in my primary. It will give me time to go for my backup. I prefer ankle carry for my backup because i feel it can be accessed by both strong and weak side, one can never predict how things unfold when things go crazy.

I have leant to draw and fire both fairly quickly.

Based on many thread posts here and elsewhere, you can't get most people to carry spare ammo, much less another gun

Depending on my mood and attire, I will carry one of these three handguns.

No matter which of the three larger handguns I carry, I always have my LCP on me.

Typically one of a full sized 10 MM, 357 Mag or 40 S&W but sometimes backed up by a 38 Special or 380 auto. But the most ever was seven (from one of my earlier posts)...

One winter I went plinking out on the public grasslands in TX. A female LEO pulled up, told me to unload the pistol, set it on the tailgate of my 4runner and come over by her. After unloading it and placing it on the tailgate, I pulled another out from under my coat and did the same, and then another and another... for a total of seven handguns (most them decent sized). You see, when I went plinking, I wanted to shoot all of my handguns. Nothing seemed more convenient than loading them all up and cramming them in my belt under my coat. I walked over to her and showed her my CHL just so she wouldn't get too concerned since they were all concealed. She checked me out, gave me some canned lecture about being careful, checking my back stop and cleaning up my brass before I left. Then she went on her way.

Usually a mid to large auto of 9mm caliber or above as my main gun. And either my 642, PF9, or P3AT depending on the circumstances. What is the weather like? How much cover do I need to keep my gun from prying eyes. And so on. Why two? Because from every gunfighter from "Wild Bill" to Jim Cirillo and to modern day everyone that I know has carried at least two guns. If your gun jams a New York reload is the fastest way to get back into action. Lots of folks get hit in the gun hand or have to struggle to keep their gun from being taken. So my main gun on my right side and my back up on my left. Someone once said "you can never be too rich, too good looking or to well armed. Read about how many guns Bonnie and Clyde had on them when they were killed. Or Jesse James and others carrying 4-5 guns on raids. Partly on themselves, some on their horses. History teaches us if we will listen. BUG's have saved lots of folks lives. Reasons enough.

On duty three. Springfield Armory XD45 tactical with three reloads, a 642 on my ankle and a LCP in a cargo pocket.

Off duty Sig 220 and the LCP or the 642 and the LCP

The reason Wild Bill, Jim Cirillo, and Jesse James carried multiple guns is because as you stated they were indeed gunfighters. As far as Bonnie and Clyde they were bank robbers who went up against entire police forces. Seeing as I am neither, if the time comes I need to start carrying more than one gun around I am moving out of town.
