Which would have more stopping power, 1 shot with a .45 or 2 shots with a 9mm?

Well it's a silly proposition, but for fun I say it is a fact that hot gasses are expanded thus pass through 2 holes of smaller size faster than through 1 larger hole. This is why modern cylinder heads with multiple valve designs are made as they are. Not sure how this relates to liquids (blood) but blood is hot already and I'm certain one will bleed out faster through 2holes instead of one, but again 2 shots vs one in what locations?

I don't think there is any question that shooting someone twice with quality 9mm SD ammo, and creating 2 separate wound channels in going to cause more tissue damage, more bleeding, more trauma, faster blood loss and quicker drop in blood pressure than a single shot with .45 ACP would, and should cause an assailant to cease hostilities more quickly than if they were shot a single time with a .45 ACP.

Eh. Who really knows. The more shots you can fire in a given time period increases the odds of one of the hitting the off switch.

9mm recoils less. You'll likely be able to fire it a little faster.

.45 holes allow more hydraulic fluid to leak out faster. But, 2 9mm's allow even more.

.45 might be a little better at punching through bones without deflection.

The big boys don't practice one shot or double tap anymore. They strive for 5 and more hits per target. A nine carries more ammo.

The SEALS could carry whatever they want in handguns. They carry Sig P226's and P239's in 9mm.

I think we over think things. Hand a SEAL a gun. "Here, its a Sig P226. It works, it's reliable and we've used it for years. Go get good with it." He does. It's just a tool.

I carried a .45 for many years. Carried 9's too. My duty gun is a Glock 22 in .40. I'm fine with it. Off duty I carry a P239 in 357 SIG. I happen to really like that round.

I can make as compelling an argument for any caliber as you would like. I have seen every one of them work spectacularly on the street and the same round fail miserably. Dead right there from a .25 auto. Walking around complaining about a couple hits from a .45.
