Which wildcat(s) do you wish would catch on?

It took year for rifle rounds such as the 25/06 and 35 Whelen to be legitimized

you must admit that both of those rounds are excellent rounds, and important additions to the available cartridges.

If either of them had nothing new to contribute, I'd agree, but the 25-06 and the whelen both were very superior to available rounds in those calibers.

I agree that the 8mm magnum basically just filled a hole in the caliber charts between 300 and 338 magnums, and any real added value over either of those rounds was pretty small.

.44AutoMag; Sudden Impact, Beverly Hills Cop II, .50GI...

I was looking at a print ad for the .50GI Guncrafters models.
The Model 2 1911a1 format with the tactical rail is impressive.
A Model 2 with some custom work & add-ons could be a good vehicle defense gun or for limited applications.
The Glock 21/20 barrel-slide kit could be a smart purchase too.
The .50GI does seem to be a major hit with the shooting sports industry.
I think it's US handgun niche is already filled by large rounds like the .50AE, .440Corbon, .45LAR, & .500S&W.
The .44Automag was slick in the early 1980s. It was used in the "Dirty Harry" film; Sudden Impact & was used by a few bad guys in Beverly Hills Cop II(1987). Det Axel Foley(Eddie Murphy) correctly points out that firearm reloaders had to neck down .308/7.62mm cases to use because brass was "too expensive".

I'd like to see some modern arms in a 7.62x25; that round is a thumper.

Or, a 9x21 necked down to 311 or 308 that shoots heavier bullets. That would be great for small game and smaller defense guns. The 32NAA doesn't really have much on the 'ol 380.

But, for existing rounds, the .50GI would be a good pin-gun round... in theory. We have every conceivable needed revolver round available to us so that pony have been ridden pretty hard already.

Ah, but it is thee parent of the 7mm STW (Shoots Through Wisconsin)!
