Which U.S. Policies irk you?

private school ?

if I had a kid who was runnign around with the wrong crowd he would find out just how short a leash he was on and who was holding the end that counts.

My dad was pretty good at that.........

Friday night and my curfew is 12:00 midnight going out with the gang.....

Me: Dad its friday night I want to stay our past midnight
Dad: Be Home at 11:30
Me: Oh Dad Come on ifs Friday
Dad: lets make that 11:00
Sneaks to Mom.....and asks (sneaky mode)
Honey it okay if he stays out past midnight
Dad: lets make that 10:30
Me: leave before I dig myself a deeper hole.

I see kids ptiching fits in public and getting a gazillion warnings....

My dad didnt beleive in warnings.... instant punishment on the spot.
hence we knew that dads wrathe was instantaneous and if he gave us a warning we were damn lucky...lol and shut up or yaps.

parents have the power.... use it or lose it.

Blatant disregard of the Constitution by "our" elected leaders

When an elected official takes the oath of office, they must first swear "to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

When a politician or government agency totally disregards the Constitution and Bill of Rights and/or outright tramples them underfoot with no regard for what they stand for, it really irritates me.

The most blatant abuses seem to be of the following articles of the Bill of Rights:

Article Two- Our right to arms.
Article Four- Our right to be secure from unreasonable search and seizure.
Article Five- Our right to due process and our right to not have private property taken for public use without just compensation.
Article Six- Our right to a speedy and public trial by an impartial jury and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation (thanks alot, you who voted in the Patriot Act).
Article Nine- Enumeration of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage other rights retained by the people.
Article Ten- Powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

In other words, "our" elected leaders govern in such a way that dismantles the wall that seperates a free people from a people forced into submission to a ruling elite.

And that really irritates me.

I think the best idea I've ever had was to pull my children out of regular school and start to homeschool.
After seing with my own eyes what goes on inside the so called "drugs free schools" and the way many schools are ran it made me realize what a big problem they are.
I have the proof myself in the difference of children being homeschooled and Gov. schooled, 2 vs. 2 (the 4 of them did went to elementary).
In the other hand I had the luxury to attent private school in my other country but my experience was not pleasurable either, the French teacher hated my guts because I wanted to learn English and not French but still made me sit in his class, he use to beat the living hell out of me (I was only 10) untill I decided to take my own little revenge by throwing a coconut on his head. I kind of had my own little complices who helped by bringing the fruit (see? that was a weapon) and after going to the principal and telling the story the teacher got fired.
I never wanted to bother my parents with something I thought I could take care on my own without the need to worry them.
Eghad, about 11 years ago I did chase my children with my shoe in my hand around the neighborhood in GA. (that's another weapon, you can't even imagine that day! I will never forget :) ) and I perfectly understand were you are comming from but in some cases it does not work because some kids are weak minded and easily fall for it inside the school.

My opinion for policies "let the good parents be parents to their own children in their own way".
No Goverment or source should robotize our children.
That does not take away the discipline a parent should teach that a good law should always be oveyed as long as it is a good law.

This reminds me that public school is also on my list of irksome and dangerous government time-and-money-wasting scams.

For some reason I have this mental picture of a petite young woman running around the neighborhood in one shoe chasing a group of reprobates twice her size...:D

We also need to do much much more to close our borders against illegal imigration.
But i have More respect for the fruit or veggie picker who works for 5bucks an hr.
Than i do for our govt houseing residents who sit on their butts and wait for the next handout.
Reguardless of race or creed.
And i agree with you guys on our public schools.
Better do it the old fashoned way values and morals should be instilled by mom and dad.
I'm not saying this applys to every public educator but it sure seems that more and more are teaching from somewhere way left of center.

Many people has an overall picture of what the welfare system is supposed to be, I have known many that were a part of it and actually they were nothing but victims of circumstances. Some even with carreers and others because of marital problems or divorce.
Now, there are those who use false documents (illegals) or that are plain lazy or wraped up smoking their marihuana/crack/etc. or drinking...that really gives it a bad name for those who were caught in it and actually were some decent people and had no clue what being poor was about.
Did you knew that if the absent parent is caught whatever AFDC was given needs to be paid back?
My friend in GA had the taxes from her X that were arrears owed to her taken by the Gov. to pay back (they took it for five yrs.)
The worse part is that there are those who do not seem to know who the absent parents are... and they never have to pay a penny.
Those who gives the bad name always get the best.
Yes, there are a slight majority who don't desrve it and abuses it but there are others who are just plain decent.

I can understand the frustation that some of us have about it specially when we work hard at making ends meet and have abit of decent life, but we all (including myself) sometimes fall in the temptation of pluralizing.

This is actually a big problem in our country, also sad that those who deserve it get the worse.

Illegal Immigration

Ignoring viable tax reform for policies that change nothing but sound good for election time.

Increasing Government responsibility in the place of individual responsibility.

Political correctness when dealing with those who have stated an intent to kill us.

Frivolous Lawsuits.

Allowing 5% of citizens access to 20% of my income. (when they have their own car and tv already) aka "redistribution of wealth"

Allowing those with criminal CONVICTIONS to run the country.

Refusal to allow individuals the abilities and tools necessary for protecting their life, liberty and property.

Oh, and if you require this info for your report..... I'm a white, male, 25, nominal republican (with much libertarian leaning), in TN. hmm, anything else to help you classify?
