Which of the following T.V. shows is the most realistic? When I say realistic, I mean primarily with respect to guns carried, general tactics and situations involving shootouts.
Whoever picked NCIS is out of their mind, lol. None of them are realistic, they are TV dramas. Since you asked for the most realistic.. that leaves little to choose from as most are so far from reality that its laughable.
If you had "Blue Bloods" as one of the selections I probably would have voted for that. Several of the selections I haven't watched for some time or never paid much attention too.
The realism of a tv show, as regards to guns and shooting, can be measured by how far across the room someone flies, who gets shot by a shotgun.
Or how many times a round get chambered in the same gun.
GunSmoke? there could a very long list indeed. Most realistic, but not on the list COPS. another I find entertaining is Burn Notice. It has a Mcgiever flare to it.
As far as the list maybe law & order, but they all have theatrical element for entertainment purposes only.
ABSOLUTELY NONE.
I have been a police officer for 28 years. Nothing on TV has ever come close. It is all fiction. No one would ever watch a single minute if any of it came close to day to day law enforcement.
I'd vote for Highway Patrol, a TV series with Broderick Crawford that originally ran during the mid-late 1950's. I never knew that California Cops could talk so fast.
I would have to vote for Adam-12, with the full knowledge that I have no experience or training dating back that far and that much of what they did is outdated by current best practices.
I voted Adam-12 since I loved the show as a kid. Seems like I do remember reading somewhere that the weapons and equipment were very much in line with what LAPD used at the time. Does anyone remember the clam shell type holster they had?
How about another vote for "Justified", not for the realism but the the comedy! I've never seen a bigger collection of wise-crackers in my life, totally awesome!
No one mentioned "The Andy Griffith Show". From what I've seen Officer Barney Fife is and has been perhaps the most influential tactical weapons expert and handgunner the law enforcement community has produced in the last 60 years.
