Which rifle

Just a Lil heads up on shooting at that distance. The scope may not have enough adjustment to reach 1000 yards. It's a easy fix with the right scope mounts. Most hunting scope set ups will not be capable. Just trying to save you a Lil bit of frustration.

The Savage Hog Hunter does not appear to be offered in any magnums. It is available in .338 Federal, which as stated is essentially a necked up .308.

I find it really unlikely it was ever offered in .338 Win Mag, you just don't need that for hunting hogs.

That gun is really not suited for LR target shooting, for the reasons The Big D mentioned above.

What kind of shooting you planning on doing at "900 plus yards"?

We will be shooting at 18 inch square plates and 24 inch square plates. I checked the serial number on the savage site it said it was a m111 hog hunter chambered in 338 win mag. Bushnell scope 4-16 can't remember the rest. I could see the trees where we will be setting up the targets. Will be picking it up next Friday I will be out of town this weekend.

Is it maybe a Savage "long range hunter" in 338 Lapua? Not 338 WIN MAG.

That gun would make more sense... The 338 Fed round is NOT going to give good results at 900+
