I have a Ruger Bisley in 45 Colt and a Smith 460. I like them both but if I had to go with one, it would be the 460. While I know folks run hot 45 Colt loads in some Rugers, I just don't do it. One look at the cylinders of the two and you can see there is just a lot more steel in between chambers of the 460. The 460 is meant to safely handle high pressure and it can shoot 45 Colt and even 454 Casull if you want something medium powered. The Ruger is fun to shoot with standard 45 Colt loads where the 460 Smith is much more comfortable with the higher power stuff. The one advantage the Ruger does have is smaller size and lighter weight so that may also be something you have to consider. YMMV
I just bought a blued Blackhawk convertible .45 Colt/.45 ACP I just learned that I can shoot Ruger only loads through it. I'm delighted that I can push a .45 bullet from 1100 to a little over 1400 fps. I bought it because I got a great deal on it, it has adjustable sights and I already load for .45 Colt.(I almost got a .44 mag.) I am sure glad that I do reload, because I talked the lgs clerk into giving me a 50 rnd. box of Rem. HTP 230 grn. jhp. and the price sticker on the box is $49.99 Out of the box I can consistently hit a 6" steel plate at 50 yrds.
Picked the Redhawk, partly because I have one in .45 Colt and am not interested in the novelty big bores. Actually my Redhawk is going on the market soon, because I found a 5.5" for heavy load .45 Colt, and because I now have a 4" Smith 657, .41 Mag as a wilderness gun.
