Which of these would you carry?

My choice would be the HK P30 in 9mm. The hammered design of the HK is better IMO when I have limited or poor choice in ammo. Out of box quality of the HK and Glock are probably good. Sig I have my doubts while FNX I have no familiarity.

It's almost always my 226 that I open carry while I'm in the woods. My CC gun is my P-30. Based on this I would go with one of these two.

I'm loving everyone's answer.

I asked just for fun. And I really appreciate everyone taking the time to respond to my thread.

I'm carrying the P226 now. I'm getting a P229 Elite Dark in 9mm. Which will probably be the main carry 0_0
So far this year I've carried both at work and CCW:

Glock 19
Glock 41
P226
1911 for a month

I've downsized from 40-ish handguns to several.

The FNX 45 would be my choice. I own a FNP 45 which has performed perfectly. Accurate, highly reliable and a natural pointer for me.

If I had to make that choice today, I'd grab the Glock 41 since it's closest to my Glock 21 that I've been carrying. Or the 19. As a rule I don't love DA/SA so I'd have to practice some before grabbing one of them.

Can the FNX go cocked and locked? If so, perhaps that, if its not too big for my smallish hands.

I'm most familiar with the 226... Though a Glock would work if need be, I would prefer the 17 in gen 4. Recent forays into the land of glock has shown me that I shoot them well, despite my general dislike of there ergos. Good thing the gen 4 fixed a several of my complaints.

The double stack 45s tend to be too large for me.

If I could pick one of my on pistols, The choice would be tough between my CZ, 226, and M&P... I am very accurate and quick with all three, the CZ being my best.

I would take my M&P, as its the only pistol I have a holster for ATM, and the Apex trigger has improved its shootability for me to levels near my CZs.

If I was really forced to go into harms way... I would demand a good AR or comparable rifle, and have the pistol as a secondary. But this is the handgun forum... so that option is out I guess.

Open carry > my W. German P226
CCW > my H&K P2000

Both 9X19 - DA/SA with decocker

And I forgot … my 1978 BHP for the range (4 pds trigger)

Open carry? From that list it would be the SIG P226 hands down.

If I could choose something not on the list then it would be a 1911.

If you're talking about needing to pick up a temporarily issued & carried service type weapon?

Either the G19, P226 or P30 would be fine (presuming they've been cleaned, lubed and test-fired prior to issuance, of course).

I'm unaware of either the G41 (too new) or the FNX-45 having been T&E'd in any extensive LE/Gov agency testing thus far, so I'd pass on picking up and relying upon an unfamiliar, not personally-owned example of either for immediate usage.

I'm not particularly overly fussy when it comes to make/model/caliber of issued service weapons, so any of the other 3 would be fine. I'd probably just reach for whichever one of them was closest within reach.

Now, personally, I'd be much more inclined to be fussy about the holster being handed out. I'd be more prone to grab whichever set of pistol & holster had the more acceptable (to me) holster. ;)

You happen to have listed 3 of my all-time favorite firearms in your list: The Glock 19, the P226, and the P30. Out of those 3 if I could only choose one, I would choose the SIG. Lately I don't feel that Glock has as much of a competitive advantage in the market as they had in years past. I also feel that Glock is out of touch with their customers right now, but that's just me. I LOVE the HK and it has the best ergonomics of the group and is more comfortable to carry than the SIG, but the trigger is the worst of the bunch and not even a quality trigger job is going to really do much for it to be totally honest. The SIG has the best trigger of the group, great ergonomics, and is just my favorite of these.

This said, I carry an HK VP9 nowadays and I love it. It addresses my only complaints with the P30 quite well and is a hell of a deal at it's price point. Out of the group you listed, though, I think the P226 is the best choice. Just get a REALLY good holster and belt to lug it around.

Oh, and I actually carried a P226 exclusively for about a year inside the waistband with no complaints. It can definitely be done. I actually didn't even notice it on my hip most of the time.

If you could not avoid that scenario, seriously, an SKS (if legal and normal-but not like those legalistic jerks with ARs in Starbucks) with any handgun as backup.
