Which of these three penetrate the most?

According to an old Evan Marshal article in the 1995 issue of Handguns these are some gelatin results out of a 2" .38 spl +p

1) Rem 125 Golden Sabre +P MV 862 ME 206 Penetration 13.2 Expansion .60

He does not have the other two rounds, these are some other fairly close samples

2) Remington 158 LSW/HP +P MV 812 ME 231 Penetration 12.0 Expansion .61

3) Winchester 110 Silvertip +P MV 948 ME 220 Penetration 10.5 Expansion .55

4) Federal 129 Hydrashok +P MV 800 ME 183 Penetration 15.4 Expansion .52

I would expect everyones 158 lsw/hp to penetrate pretty much the same, but i have been told that the Nyclad +P loads and 357 mag load use pretty hard lead. The .357 did not impress me in the limited tests that i did with it.

Logically I would guess with all other factors being equial, the 125 Silvetip should penetrate a little more than the 110. Both have aluminum alloy jackets, but i don't know if the lead actually used in both bullets is the same hardness or not.

I would expect of the three you listed the Golden Saber will have the most penetration, with the Nyclad and the Silvertip roughly tied for second.

BTW my favorite loads for snubbie .357 mags are either Federal or Remington's 110 JHP depending on which the gun shoots more accurately. These both will normally break 1100 fps out of a 2.5" barrel without too much recoil.

Next runner up is the Federal 147 .38 +P+ Hydrashok. Hard to get but can be found at gunshow for anywhere from $14 - $20 for a box of 50. I have chron'ed at 887 FPS out of a 2" S&W36.
