Which has best trigger in your opinion?

Trying to decide on one of two guns based on trigger. I have dry fired both but would like someone who have actually fired both, to give their opinion on which trigger they like better. Thanks

Smith & Wesson M&P9 Shield 9mm Performance Center Ported

Springfield XD Mod.2 9mm Sub-Compact Black Essentials with GripZone

Don't have any experience with the Springfield but although the trigger on the Performance Center Shield is supposed to be enhanced , I did not notice any difference from the trigger on the cheaper standard Shield

Best bet with a Shield is to just buy the regular model and put an Apex sear and block kit in it and use the factory trigger return spring. I'm pulling about 4.5lbs on mine far better than the Performance Center and far cheaper.

I have 2 XD's...the 9 and 45....I have never had one problem with either in any way, shape, or form...plus I just like everything about them. I like the safeties and the loaded chamber indicator.

One reason I bought and carry a XDS 45 was the trigger. The other was the loose magazine in the Shields I test fired. Not bashing the Shield just my opinion though.

I just bough the PC Shield for my wife a few weeks ago. Actually I took her to my favorite gun shop and let her handle all she wanted till she found one she liked. I have to say for a compact carry gun it has a surprisingly light trigger with a positive reset. And for the ported barrel, it has the felt recoil of my Beretta 92fs which is pretty amazing. When you fire it there is almost zero muzzle rise and you can get back on target really fast. After a couple of mags practice I was able to rapid fire at 5 yards and put all 8 rounds in a 2.5" group. Kind of envious of the wife pick. For the $50 more than a standard Shield you get hi-viz sights, the ported barrel and an enhanced trigger. A bargain over a regular shield.
As for the Springfield I have no experience with the Mod.2 but I do have two XDm's in 9mm and .45acp, both the suppressor ready models. While accurate and reliable I hate the triggers on both. No feel to them and very mushy.

To be honest, I would say just flip a coin on these two. I can't feel a dimes worth of difference in them. It's just going to come down to personal preference with them and which feels most comfortable to you.

A trigger has to do 2 things well. It has to let you get on it and tell you when it is going to release. It has to do these things relative to the users condition at the time of use.

For SD, the user is pretty hyped up, so a long take up and heavier pull weight are ok. It is even ok, if the break is a bit mushy, but IMO, the difference between these 2 is that the M&P is too mushy.

That said, new XD's and new M&P's are quite similar and either should be fine.

The Shield's trigger feels much better than the XD trigger to me. In fact, the XD has one of my least favorite triggers. I have not fired a mod 2 though, so if the trigger is different in it my opinion is invalid.

Don't spend time splitting hairs on the best trigger in stock striker fired guns. You're better off working on your trigger control so it doesn't matter.

This and it's kind of like being valedictorian of summer school.

"...decide on one of two guns based on trigger..." Don't. All new firearms require a trigger job due to frivolous U.S. law suits.
Buy a hand gun based on how well it fits your hand. Nothing else is as important.

I'm actually going to say even that isn't as important. I shoot Glocks better than most striker fired pistols despite other pistols "fitting" my hand better.

Truth be told, look at the Walther PPS. My fiance and I just went through looking for a good EDC. We tried both of those you listed and the PPS just felt better. Much better trigger than either of those and it just felt more comfortable in each of hands.

Funny thing was, she really wanted to like the shield as shes an S&W fan but the Walther was just better all around.

Never had an XD, but I'm a big fan of the Shield. The trigger is excellent and accuracy on this gun is unbelievable in such a small package.
