which handguns are among the easiest to shoot well?

My selection would be:

Auto - CZ 75 or 85 in 9MM
Revolver - Ruger GP100, 4", 357 or S&W 868,4", 357
All four are outstanding handguns.

Have fun! Dan

I can strongly recommend a Ruger Blackhawk in a 357mag 9mm convertable with a 6.5“ barrel. Gives you 3 calibers to shoot.

I concur.

It was the only gun that I have ever sold that I wish I still had.

It wasn't that accurate with the 9mm cylinder, but it was cheap to shoot and extremely good to work out trigger control issues.

It was a dream to shoot with .38s with excellent adjustable sights and a sweet single action trigger.

It was alot of fun to shoot and due to the shape of the grip, very easy on the recoil.

The one I had, was the 6.5" bbl and if I had to do it over again, (which I just might;)) I think I would go with the shorter 5.5" bbl.

If you aren't wanting it for CCW, I think it is an excellent option, especially if it is your 1st centerfire gun. 2 of the most common and low cost cartridges out there, easy recoil and fun.:D

Sorry I have not been on in a while. The gun is a .38 spcl. only. It will handle .38spcl. +p without any trouble. The guns that chamber .357 Mag will take both .357 Mag, and .38spcl. though if you shoot a lot of .38 spcl it will make chambering .357 mag difficult in some guns due to a build up of carbon. A cleaning will usualy clear that up. I am a beliver in .38spcl+p is nothing to sneeze at. It is easy for most beginners to shoot from a medium framed revolver without getting thier hand beaten up, and them developing a flinch.

The only real advantage I know of is there is less of a flash from unburned powder from .38 spcl, and not nearly as loud of a report from the shot. I own a couple of other .357 mag guns. I shoot .38 spcl almost exclusively even though I hand load.

This S&W M10 in 38 Special has to be the easiest centerfire pistol to shoot well that I have ever owned.

The recoil is minimal, muzzle blast not bad, accuracy is superb.

The 38 Special has gone out of fashion but it still is an outstanding round.

If you're already familiar with general handgun shooting then I believe the CZ75 is the easiest handgun to begin firing accurately. The ergonomics and size make it handle the 9mm like it was nothing, the DA is similar to a S&W trigger and the SA is even nicer. From the moment you pick it up and shoot it you'll think you've put thousands of rounds thru it already. JMO of course.

Good 4 or 6 inch S&W 357 or 38. Now having said that I have a Sig 220 ST and a Beretta 92FS Inox with the D spring that are shooters. The Sig especially is uncanny.
