Which gun? which caliber?

I am looking into buying my first handgun, what caliber to you guys reccomend? I am looking at the glock 19 9mm. I'd like it to be accurate out to 50yds. I have shot my dads 9mm beretta 92f and wasn't impressed with the accuracy at all!!!

Most firearms are more accurate than their user. Learning the basics of shooting and practice will be much more beneficial to your shooting than just going out and buying a gun built for accuracy. Now, if you are looking for a target gun, you need to look at something other than a Glock. They are combat handguns, and they aren't built for accuracy. Their trigger also isn't the best set up for long range accurate shooting.

The option that gives you the most bang for your buck and will allow the greatest amount of practice is a .22 handgun like a Ruger Mk III or a Browning Buckmark. Each is a very accurate gun, and since .22's are cheap you can practice a lot without burning through your shooting budget.

If you are looking for something with a little more oomph, then I suggest looking into a revolver in .357 Magnum. Their fixed barrels make them vary accurate, most can be had with adjustable target sights, and you can shoot cheap .38 Specials for target work.

9mm

Well if you want shoot anything other than paper 9mm is the last cal. you would want. It would be worse to get shot with a 22. The 40 s&w is a great choice, a 38, 357, 10mm and the 100 year old 1911 45, the great old reliable. That’s why it’s been around for 100 years. A 9mm is a joke if you want a gun for self defense.

Bullseye competition requires you to make decent groups in the black, shooting with one, unsupported hand @ fifty yards (during the slow fire stage). Pistols that can measure up to a good shooter's ability will be finely fitted and have superb trigger pulls. Though you will see more than a few "enhanced" Beretta Model 92s on the line (especially with military shooters), after decades of competing (including weeks at Camp Perry), I can truthfully say that I've never seen a Glock pistol contending at an officially sanctioned Bullseye match.
Some might rightfully argue that Glock never intended their pistols to compete in Bullseye matches (of course, neither did Beretta when they developed the Model 92) but I'm only responding in the context of the op's post when he asked:
