Which gun to get?

Not much help now that you have the gun home.

But, I think Mossberg is one of the better guns in the price range but I am not sold on them for competition. I have had to replace a number of broken firing pins on the over and under my Daughter uses for trap. If it was just used for hunting they would probably have lasted many years but with the round counts involved in trap practice and competition the pins just do not hold up and they never seam to break in practice.

Not to hijack Mosins thread but have you had any other problems with the silver reserve or silver reserve 2? We could use a review on them and round counts vs problems.

the browning-beretta o/u shotguns seem to the most encountered on the ranges i shoot at. and to me they are the most reliable. eastbank.

If you go hunting a few times a year, have at it.........wanna go shoot a bunch of targets? Get something else.

It is the silver reserve 2. I quick calculation found an average of about one pin per 725 rounds. Just an average, some lasted longer than others. In contrast I have a Beretta X-Trap that I am guessing is approaching 80 to hundred thousand rounds and the only problems it has had are needing tightened up from expected high round count wear and tear.

EDIT: The pins are the only problem we have had but it is time to step her up to a trap gun. Just did not want to spend a bunch if she was not going to stick with it and have a gun I could not use for something else.
