Hello all, I am in GSSF and have 2 pistol purchase coupons in my possession to be used by October.
I currently have a G19 as my only glock, I will be getting a g34 next for plans of shooting IDPA soon. I am however stuck on the 2nd coupons use. We have a shield for deep concealment, normally just carry the g19. A 26 might be nice to have being I load for 9mm anyways and I have a 19 and a 34 soon, takes the same mags and ammo, and would carry a little easier than the g19. Then again I could get a g30 for my first introduction to .45ACP. I could carry that as well, and shoot major sub at gssf with it. Or I could get the g29 and have a nice 10mm gun that would do what the g30 would as well.
If I get a 10mm or .45, I'll just have to get components to load for them, ammo cost is not a huge concern since I handload, but then I'd also have to keep stock on different components as well.
So I am stuck, and wish for you guys to spend my money

30S... gives you a .45 that is pretty much identical in size to your 19 (with 10 rounders).

A lot of 19 holsters also work with it.

I'd say just stick with the 9mm platforms and reload with that, plus the mag compatability. Get a Glock 26 for when you want a little extra firepower capacity, that's still easy to conceal carry.

I've got a custom G20L, G21, G21L (shoots 45 Super), G22, G23, and custom G24. (As you can see, 9mm isn't my thing as I handload and there's no need for it in my arsenal.) So, with that bias revealed, I'd suggest that you look at Glock's G40.

The 10mm is a powerful rd that is hampered by shorter barrels like the G29. I developed the G20L in 2004 and I can tell you that performance of full power 10mm ammo in a 6" barrel is very impressive. I use my G20L as my woods gun with either my 180 or 200grn hardcast handloads.

If you want a larger caliber but soft shooting pistol, the G21 or better yet, the G41 with it's longer sight radius and 5.3" barrel is a great combination. I've got 1911s and my Glocks are the softest shooting 45s I've ever tried.

I'm not sure if someone else has pointed this out, but the G29 is 10mm and G30 is 45 ACP.

Just to let you know. Good luck with your survey!

Sorry for the late response time. All the joys of having an infant daughter have kept me distracted from needing to interact with a bunch of strange gun nuts :D ;)
I see I got the g29 and g30 descriptions mixed up, I added those in afterwards to help anyone who didn't know the model numbers, which obviously backfired on me because now I have to consider those 2 invalid. However, the results for a g26 greatly overcome the other 3 categories combined.
Soclosenotnear, Spats is correct, GSSF is to me an introductory into competition shooting, using only block pistols, 3 stages are shot from low ready. I plan to hit an IDPA match soon to try out moving and cover engagements while on my feet. Side rant over, with GSSF, if you sign up for 2 years or more, they send you coupons for glocks at LE pricing. (A 2 year new membership is $60, you can get standard glocks, e.g. 9mm, 40, and 357sig subcompact, compacts, and fullsizes for about $425. Good savings even if you don't shoot their matches.) Palmetto Gun Club holds a match annually around October.

I have a G29. If I could do it over I would have bought a G30, 10mm conversion barrel and G20 & G29 mags. You can't convert a G29 to .45

Get the Glock 30, you can buy conversion barrels for it for a number of different cartridges. Even if you don't convert it, it's still a great gun. I considered getting it until I finally decided my next Glock .45 is going to be a 21 and I'm going to chop the grip to the Glock 30 length.

Also, I wouldn't jump into the Glock 34 just yet. You could buy a slide from Lone Wolf that is the same length as the 34's slide and an adapter, then choose which barrel you want and choose your own sights and install them.

ammo cost is not a huge concern since I handload

Gen4 G-20 with a KKM .40S&W conversion barrel, of all the different caliber conversion options on a Glock platform "IMHO" I think this one works the best. And handloading makes 10mm feasible, you don't need to be in a hurry to get the conversion barrel. The cost of that barrel is about as much as I would want to invest in a .40S&W setup, again strictly "MHO".

Glock 20 with a Lone Wolf .40 S&W conversion barrel.

10mm for home defense and wilderness protection and .40 S&W for range use.

There is no better (or more powerful) Glock.

I vote for a 45cal, get some diversity in your collection. The 45's are good guns weather you get the compact, single stack or the full size they are smooth shooters.

You can, but it would require a new slide, which brings the total price of the conversion to that of a used Glock 30.[/U]
