I personally own a lot more wheel guns, then auto loaders. I guess I prefer the reliability and flexibility of a revolver.

Which do you own more of and why?

Another one of those questions that comes up every once in a while.

Whatever floats your boat. For me, I've ended up with more autos than revolvers. Of those guns that have survived culling over the years, all are reliable. I find autoloaders easier to care for and clean.

Hi,
I have 4 pistols and 2 revolvers ( considering how tough it is to get licenses here this is a considerable amount for this side of the world)

All of them are reliable, but my revolvers are both 6" barrels, which makes them inpractical for carrying.

Brgds,
Danny

If I like the gun and the price is right...I'll buy it. Therfore the mix is pretty even but other than my Colt revolvers...I guess I do tend to favor autos.

The only revovler I own is an antique Remington 1858. Other than my COP 357 (which is neither an auto or wheel gun), all others are autos.

About 20 revolvers / and about 15 semi-autos - so a few more revolvers.

The extra revolvers I have ( or all the revolvers I have ) are older S&W models ( 19's, 27's, 29's etc ) - and mostly they've accumulated because they've been such good buys the last 4 or 5 years - so I've just built up the inventory - and then I'll pass some of the duplicates down to the kids as they get a little more settled.

I'm 7/6 in favor of revolvers right now. In all likelihood that will keep tipping in favor of wheelguns as the next couple handguns on my want list are wheelies as well.

Quess I have gotten lazy over the years. I would rather not have to search for and pick up BRASS.

It seems like when I fire 20 rounds with a semi auto I might find 15 rounds of brass. Lousy MATH.:)

I have a few more revolvers. I just enjoy shooting them more than my autos, although I enjoy both a lot.

the original poll/thread starter said he prefers the reliability and flexibility over
auto's.....
in this day and age auto's are every bit as reliable and flexible as the out dated wheel gun.the selection of auto's is so great it encompasses darn near every situation.dont get me wrong i like wheelie's as much as the next guy.but prefer
autos.Ive owned a 357 magnum, but there is a reason they are not widely used
anymore(but don't ask me why because don't know the answer)by law enforcement.and im sure someone will have an answer.

im not knocking wheelie's i just prefer auto's.

Currently Autos have the edge

12 revolvers vs 17 autos. However, 3 of those autos are in "revolver" cartridges!

auto's are every bit as reliable and flexible as the out dated wheel gun.

I dosagree with this statement on two counts. First, revolvers are not outdated. New revolvers (new models and designs) are still coming out of the factories. No longer dominating the handgun market as they once did, but not outdated, nor obsolete.

Second is "flexible". Autopistols will only function reliably within a fairly small range of ammunition parameters. This can be changed by changing parts (most notably recoil springs) but they do not function with loads too light (or too heavy) for the range that they are set up for. The only exception to this is the Wildey, which has an adjustable gas system. And then there is the whole ammo feeding thing.

Revolvers in contrast will fuction with any ammo you can fit in the chambers, no matter the bullet profile, and covering then entire possible power spectrum fro the cartridge, from rounds that just barely exit the barrel up to the maximum pressure/velocity that the design of the gun will allow.

Autopistols, fed good ammo (and good is defined by ammo the pistol is tuned to shoot) are as reliable as revolvers. But they are not as versatile, with the one noted exception.
