Which CZ 75 to get?

Rough question :D Which to get in the finish dept is a personal choice. I have had blued, poly and nickel CZ's each finish is very good. The Nickel is my FAV. Which do you like the best?

As far as the B"...it just means it has a Firing Pin Block".....
The SA is a Single Action trigger gun that is primarily made for an outstanding tartet gun...or even a competition gun on a budget.
The SA gun has the Block thus is a B" gun anyway.

If the gun is used primarily for target/competition the SA is a killer choice or the 85 combat is not alot more money and comes with lots of options that make it an excellent comp. gun also.

For an all around gun, home, plinking, defense, target etc....the
75 B" is an excellent choice or the Mil" if you can find one...they are getting more hard to come by.

You will probably love any CZ you get..they are just very nice guns in every regard. Even if they werent priced inexpensively.

Shoot well

If it were me, it would be the 9mm CZ-75 B, in black polycoat.

Ammo Tip: In this particular case, if you're going to use Federal hollowpoints, go with Classical Hi-Shoks, not Premium Hydra-Shoks. You can try several things and then decide what works best for you, if you want to go that route. But I'd like to save you the time, aggravation, and 15 bucks (awright, so I'm a cheapskate). CZs are stupendous guns; and yes: like most, they tend to have unique personalities... within very tight margins. But the reality is, more often than not, they don't reliably feed the Premiums. The Czechs had Sellier & Bellot in mind when they sketched out their (9mm) blueprints; and if you're not using that and you want to avoid the trial-and-error circuit, then take my advice: of the two, Hi-Shoks are the best bet.

Of course, and if you prefer, you can always pack Sellier & Bellot.

Of course, and if you prefer, you can always pack anything and see what works best for you.

As far as the CZ-75 B in .40 S&W, I don't know. Haven't been there or done that.

Good luck, and good shooting.

I got an 85 Combat in Satin Nickel. Beautiful. I like the Nickel finish. Doesn't show holster wear and probably the most durable of all the finishes CZ offers. I really like some of the features on the 85 such as the extended mag release button, the drop free mags and the adjustible sights.

They are all really nice. Depends on what you want to spend and what look and feel you are after.

The Satin Blue is really pretty too. I may just have to break down and get one if I can hide the purchase from my wife!

Hi Rickmeister,
I shoot GA 124gr Gold Dots in my CZ75B and ahve had no failures. That's not saying much though, since it also feeds White Box Win FMJ, Blazers, Cor-Bon JHP and GA 124gr LRN reliably. In fact, I have yet to find a loading that it would fail to feed well.

I don't have a CZ-75 SA, i have a good ole CZ-75b....

But i'd lean towards an SA these days, just because I've become an SA auto fan. I also like the compact CZ-75 with the full length grip for regular hi-cap mags (but i don't remember that model #).

Best

The CZ-75B SA is really nice, I especially like the "beavertail" pointing upwards unlike the standart "B" model and of couse - the trigger! Also the heavier nose and new safety lever feels good.
The nicest CZ in satin nickel finnish I have seen, was the steel frame semicompact, or compact with old rounded triggerguard!

I don't think that you have to worry about them running out very fast, the test target that came with my new 85b that I picked up yesterday(it was ordered staight from the dist.)was dated 01/01/95!!!

I agree with RBull. I have the SA - a great! gun. The upswept beavertail is very, very nice.

About the CZ not liking Premiums? Havent heard that one...every CZ Ive heard of, including my own eat anything....Oh, my Compact didnt like Silver Bear 147 gr JHP's. But ate ALL other 9mm ammo like candy. Including the 1000's of Premiums I shot and carried in it. You may want to call Mike at CZ USA....chat with him about it. Maybe he will fix your gun?
Shoot well

Get the benchmark - 75B

It is the best range gun in my arsenal. But the 75 SA is probably a better choice if you routinely practice at more than 25 yard. The Polycoat finish is durable and doesn't reflect sunlight; thus not compromising your tactical situation.:)

I have a CZ 75 BD and really like it.

The decocker is very different than a SIG, which somebody above asked. Actually I kind of like it better, because when you decock, the hammer falls to the half cock position. This is the position the gun is made to be carrried safely in, since the firing pin block is active until you pull the trigger. And the DA trigger pull is shorter and easier to master than a full DA trigger pull. Your choice: full DA or short DA. Cool.

My CZ decocking pistol cost $369. I'd like to see you do that with a SIG.

True, the insides are not polished as much as a SIG, but it's made to work perfectly even if it doesn't have the prettiest insides around.

The inside grip spring with the BD means the mags are not drop free. BUT, you can get the other grip spring and then it becomes drop free.

The CZ 9mm hi caps are still really easy to get since they made a boat load before the ban -- usually $38 - $48.

I really like my CZ 75B Compact. Not the decocker one--the compact version of the real 75B. It's just a little shorter and it fits like a glove. Plus it has a real safety, 1911-style.

"Which model CZ should I get? The B, the SA, etc? What finish should I opt for, the military, the nickle, the duo-tone?"

Avoid the gloss blue and whichever one you get keep the gun (especially the extractor) clean or it will jam.

Depends...

The more I shoot my PCR, the more I appreciate it's excellent ergonomics and how easy it is to shoot. The only drawback to it is that making it light for carry also means it rises more when shooting. If you might carry, or you have smaller hands, the PCR is a great gun. With Hakan custom grips on it, it feels super good in my hands.

But if you want a nice range gun, the CZ-75SA I've shot was excellent. Really nice SA trigger = the grip didn't feel as good in my hands, and I couldn't reach the slide release without changing grip, but it was very, very easy to shoot accurately, and the recoil was the mildest I've encountered in a 9mm.

I don't like the DA pull on the CZ-75 (too long to be comfortable), so I'd definitely pick the SA over the DA/SA models.

Sadly, neither one of these guns comes in the duo-tone (my favorite combination).

E. Larsen: if it's only my gun that doesn't like Premiums and Mike at CZ is willing to fix it, will he do it free of charge?

Actually, I'm happy with the Hi-Shoks. I'll save the Hydra-Shoks for my M17.

Cheers.
