Which Browning to get? Browning BDA 380 or Hi-Power 9mm?

Sure, that's debatable. Some people find the 9mm to be marginal as well. On the flip side, I carry a .380 off-duty, so obviously I don't think that its all that anemic.

Would you be happier if I rephrased it this way?

The 9mm is more powerful, the .380 is less powerful

Much better. The 9mm is undoubtedly a more powerful round, but to tag the .380 as "marginal" is very much an opinion. "Marginal" when shooting what? An elephant?

I would venture to guess that out of the box, the 380 would be more accurate then the hi-power, but it is kind of luck of the draw. My 380's are very accurate, particularly the MD84.

Get the Hi-Power. The 9mm will serve you better long term for both target shooting/plinking and self defense.
