Which .45?

I'm kind of thinking I want another .45----already have a Sig P220. The .45's will more than likely be a house or target gun.

Here's the 3 I've been looking----Berreta Cougar .45-----Glock 30 or 36------Sig P245. Sorry 1911 guys---been there--done that----just not for me.

Berreta---Seems a little big for only holding 8 rounds and there are some sharp edges when the mag is removed. The action seems nice and the price is right ($505)---I think?? Any comments on the turning barrel system??

Glocks---Mostly looking at the G30 because of the 10-round capacity. I already have a G19---but keep it on an empty chamber--my main carry gun. Glocks are good guns---just not sure I want another one to carry with an empty chamber. Priced at about $539 around here.

Sig---Good guns--P245 seems a little stumpy----hhhhhmmm-maybe another P220??. The P245 only holds 6 rounds--but then again its a Sig. Saw a P245 priced here at $625----but thinking I might be able to do better than that .

Anything good or bad to say about these choices?? Or--maybe better--talk me into or out of-- any of these??

Thanks for any help.

G-30 definitley. I love the way that gun feels. Why do you carry without one in the chamber? Just keep your finger off the trigger IMHO.

My vote and every vote counts(so if your from Chicago vote early and vote often.).

1)SIG 245

2)Beretta Cougar

3)Glock 30

With an honorable mention to HK USP .45C

Once you go SiG, it's hard to go with others, hehe. I would get an Hk USP45 f or c though, now that you already own a P220. But of your choices, I would say:

1) Glock 30

2) Beretta Cougar

3) SiG P245

As you mentioned, I just don't like the look and stumpiness of the SiG P245, although I prefer SiGs over any guns. The Glock is pretty good, though not one of my favorites. The Glock or Beretta would be good, but then any of the three is good also. Damn, I'm no help.

Variety is the spice of life, right? Why not a stainless 220? :D or maybe the 220 sport? Then the operating controls will be very familiar to you and you'd have that target you're looking for

With your handle I'm really surprised you didn't consider the Ruger P97. All the reports I have read and heard seem to think highly of this one and the price beats just about everything else you have considered, in some cases by almost half.

Things other than a finger can pull a trigger. Things can snag it. It would be especially dangerous with a glock which has no external safteys of any kind what so ever. A buddys uncle lost 2 fingers when his clothing snagged the trigger when the saftey of his rifle was off. And a glock doesn't even have a saftey...

IMO and in the opinion of the israili defence force it's safer to carry with out one in the chamber. Better safe than sorry...

Take care.

I would second the motion for a CZ97. Mine is the best shooter of the entire collection. All steel construction and 10 round capacity. Definitely worth taking a look.

As a side note, I have a BRAND NEW CZ97 for sale in the classified section of the forum at a great price.:)

Of the choices you mentioned at the beginning of this thread I would vote for the Beretta Cougar 8045. I like mine a lot.

Since you listed it as a house or target pistol and don't like the 1911 style, don't wish another Glock, and already having a Sig, I would have to chime in for the CZ97B as well. It's certainly a large frame though and some people complain about the weight as it is all steel, so those are considerations. It is very accurate and very reliable so far after only about 800 rds. in 230 gr. FMJ and hollowpoints of various commercial brands. The price on them is usually excellent considering the quality of firearm (~$500).

Joe Klug's price of $440 is sweet! Too bad I already have mine and paid more.

I personally like the Glock 36, at least as my carry gun. The design of the Glock makes it perfectly safe to carry with one in the chamber, if you carry it and store it properly. Your holster must cover the trigger/finger guard. This is imparitive with any pistol though. The striker on the Glock is designed in such a way that it is not fully cocked until the trigger is pulled. Thus, it is not a single action or a double action but what is now referred to as a safe action. The striker doesn't have enough power behind it at this point to ignite the primer, it first has to be "cocked" all the way back, and this only happens when you pull the trigger. If you carry it and store it in a proper holster, one that covers the guard, IT IS PERFECTLY SAFE.
I do not see anything wrong with your other choices though, you have to get what you are comfortable with or you won't use/carry it, and then it becomes an expensive paperweight.

Its not mentioned in your list of choices, a 45 cal. ( One Pro )
A double action 45 that was made in Switerland and imported by Magum Research.

I love mine and it has the best double action trigger ... BAR NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its also TIGHT and shoots GREAT!!!!!!!

If you can findone it should run u about $450.00, orginal price was close to $600.00. I got mine from Gunfinders.

NONE MADE MY LIST

Non-1911-pattern (am I getting this right?):

1) CZ97

2) Ruger KP90

3) H&K USP Expert (would be #1 but for cost)

4) S&W 4516

5) Glock M21 (okay, M30 for smaller hands)

These choices should make sense to any knowledgeable shooter.

Get yourself a Glock 30 if you want to carry it as well. However, the G21 is a really great gun, and if you're tall enough, you can get away with carrying that. Both guns are superb. I would take either of those over the other choices, if you're not going to go 1911.
