Where would you move to and why, as far as guns , jobs, housing are concerned ?

Shhhhh! I am glad no-one has mentioned Wyoming! This place is getting to crowded already! I mean, really, we now have a population of 530,000. You wouldn't like it here!

Just come up a little north and join the people of Maine. :)
North Carolina is nice as far as gun laws are concerned but the property is more expensive.

I guess the jobs question would depend largely on what jobs you have in mind. You're not gonna find every job everywhere. If you work in the financial sector as a stock trader for example. I'm afraid anywhere outside of NYC and the surrounding areas is going to be pretty useless to you.

I'm seriously considering heading to Texas in the DFW area to be exact. How's the construction business there? I'm guessing with the growing economy and people moving there in droves, the market for home construction should be pretty good.

Heh, talk about crowded. The population here in Brooklyn alone outnumbers the whole state of Wyoming 5 to 1. Yeah, it's pretty terrible.

It's nice and gun friendly here in East TN! Weather is lousy though, rains too freakin much compared to GA. You want gun friendly? Move to Kennesaw GA, from what I understand they're about to start enforcing their decades old law requiring every household to have a gun.

If you are in your mid-30's or younger, the Dakotas where the oil is pumping. You can make a great nest egg. Leave your family where they are to see if you can handle the long hard hours and weather. I did that in my youth, but up in Alaska. The money was awesome. I lived in a pick up and camper. I worked such long hours that family life would have been impossible. Be adaptable and they will keep you. If it turns out where you end up is conducive to family life, buy them a ticket to come out after you find a place to live. In some places, there is no housing.

My heart belongs, and always will, to Texas.

But I have to say, Wyoming is such a beautiful state! (I used to live in Jackson Hole), and the Chihuacaha mountains (did I spell that right?) and Huachuca mountains of southern Arizona are awesome (and Sierra Vista has some incredible hummingbirds!) Actually, all the states ya'll listed have wonderful features.

Certain parts of Florida have a good economy, overall gun laws are good, housing is CHEAP - 5 houses on my street went up for sale in the last two months - all sold - average price was $65,000. These are 2 or 3 BR, 1 or 2 car garage homes in what was a retirement area, but those folks are now passing on..........pays to look around

I would first pick the climate and geography you like. Then start looking for jobs. I am particularly fond of TN. Pennsylvania might be a good match for you too.

Northern Virginia. There are many jobs here and the unemployment for college educated workers is at normal levels. Gun laws are excellent. CCW permits are easy to get and you do not need one to open carry. You can purchase Class 3 items. Winters are mild, though summers are hot and humid. One can easily avoid DC and Maryland. Northern West Virginia is an hour and a half away; an hour west of DC is good for hiking and so forth.

We escaped California in 1994 for Idaho and have never looked back. However, we were financially able to do so and not worry about work issues. Idaho ain't perfect but I cannot see ever leaving here for any other state save for maybe Arizona in my old age.

Idaho is tough for a lot of folks who are white collar sorts in finding appropriate work at an appropriate wage.

I used to live in South Jersey. The plant I had worked at for fifteen years was sold to a conglomerate and they wanted shed of the IUE. I moved to Florida, best thing I ever did!
Lower taxes, cheaper housing, great weather, and the firearms climate is way better, jobs and pay not so much, I get by.
:)

Moved from CT to AZ a bit over 10 years ago. Best move I ever made. Love it here, great weather and friendly to gun ownership. Idaho would be another choice for me. It to is gun friendly and has great hunting and fishing.

Now that CT has really gone overboard on their gun legislation them move looks better than ever.
