Where is the NRA when you need them?

You're right Tim, I probably misquoted him because I don't have your brains to read and comprehend what he wrote. And since I don't have the information you need to decifer it for me I'm totally wrong. How can I ever apologize to the NRA and it's "Stepford Wives" members for my stupidity?

And for your being an ignorant double talker, that's putting it mildly. In 12 years of collective bargaining I had to deal with people just like you without an ignore list, welcome to it. If you ever learn how to have an intelligent discussion let me know.

Well, now, that's name-calling and we don't do that here. That's a warning.

Remember, keep it on the high road.

This is an NRA-bashing thread. Fair enough. I am a strong NRA supporter, so I make comments in these tiresome conversations so that the lurkers don't sheepishly take the assertions of NRA-haters as fact. I have no idea whether Rimrod's assertions are true. They may be; they may not. Absent more information, I guess there's not much more to say about that.

You're right Bud, and I apologize. Especially to you Tim, it was uncalled for.

Warning accepted.

I see what you are saying Tim, but aren't you afraid the "lurkers" will notice the difference in how my bashing was handled compared to Dalton Bros? I mean, maybe someone should have posted links to the proof that I'm wrong, that would have been easier anyway.

Rimrod, I'd wager that you and I agree on nearly every political issue, and most especially the right to keep and bear arms. I hate to argue in these threads because invariably they end up dividing the very people who need to be unified in the face of the gun-grabbers.

That said, I was especially annoyed at Dalton's post because he slammed the NRA in the thread title, and then, in his post, never said anything about what they did, didn't do, or even what he wanted them to do . We have no idea what the NRA may or may not have done. And as we've seen, courtesy of another poster, the NRA does lots of good work in Dalton's home state. I know they do a lot here in California (where we *really* need it) but many don't know about it because they mostly work through their Califonia state branch, the California Rifle and Pistol Association.

A failed NRA

There is a "Why No NRA" thread floating around. But as I replied there, I will say the same: They have failed in the State of Illinois. I know this state poses the greatest challenge. But they have let the Mayor of Chicago dictate the gun attitude and laws for the rest of the state. Govenor Blagoyovich is in the pocket of Daley. If you want to be a part of the Democratic machine in Illinois you have to bow to Daley, and the Govenor is on his knees. When the NRA gets CCL approved in Illinois I'll send them a check, but untill then I'll save the money to hire a lawyer when the heat comes down.

When the NRA gets CCL approved in Illinois I'll send them a check, but until then I'll ...

... wait for someone else to do all the legwork for me? :(

... expect them to get it passed without my help? :(

... let the anti-gunners know that the NRA doesn't speak for me when they speak up for gun rights? :(

Pax, as I said in the other thread you have made a good point. A little harsher on this thread, but you are right. I just feel they have given up here.

I think this is about like saying, "When George Bush guarantees 'world peace', I'll get behind him..." :barf:

The facts are plain a simple... the raw truth is sometimes harsh...

pax is not the source of the "harsh"... she's the messenger of the truth...

Excuse me !?!?!?

I've been lurking on this forum for some time now but what Rimrod is saying has really upset me.
In my opinion the NRA is blatantly against the lawful ownership of class III weapons and "assault weapons".

Well I'm an NRA member and guess what they emailed to me....

If the NRA is blatantly against the ownership of "Assault Weapons" why are they sending out alert emails to stop an Assault Weapons ban?

s32,

I've edited out the street language from your post and retitled it.

Welcome to TFL.

Keep it civil. Make your point. Remain civil.

This is TFL, not I'm_gonna_kill_ya_if_ya_don't_agree_with_me.com.

Not an NRA member, you should be !!

I think it's kind of disturbing that a firearm website has a discussion post which includes gun owners that are not in the NRA. See the below info taken from my brother Marc's website savetheguns.com. There is a phone number for those who wish to limit the amount of mailings. I did this a while ago and have not received anything in 6 months. Come on people, 80,000,000 gun owners and only about 4,000,000 NRA members. Imagine the fear 80,000,000 would strike into politicians. How many have written pro gun letters to the editor, I'm up to 19 published in Boston newspapers in about half a year. I'm not tooting my own horn, my brother Marc who lives in Maine puts my work to shame, and frankly we are both tired of the lazy gun owners who do nothing to support their rights.

If a member wishes to reduce the amount of mail they receive, they can call the Membership Hotline at 1 (800) 672-3888 or 1 (877) 672-2000 and speak to a membership specialist and request to be removed from the mailing list or other mail limit options.
Please also keep in mind that there are about 80,000,000 firearm owners in the United States and only about 4,000,000 are members of the NRA. NRA members are burdened with supporting and defending the rights of about 95% of America's gun owners and the NRA appreciates any time you can contribute or help support the Second Amendment.

Nope, don't mind at all. More gun owners should know about it.
I might change it to mine also. Thanks, Craig

"NRA members are burdened with supporting and defending the rights of about 95% of America's gun owners"

"the only thing the members of the NRA here can do is turn me against it more"

Have it your way, have it your way.

Meanwhile, I wonder where my 'free' gift is - I upgraded from Endowment to Patron a month or three ago. Heck, what was the 'free' gift, I don't remember. I sure as heck didn't do it to get the gift anyway.
