Where have the "Where's all the Pistol Powder" Threads Gone?

I was at my LGS this past friday and I was shocked at the addition of Alliant pistol powders. I saw about 4 cases of Unique kegs , and Bulleye. I'm not really into pistol, but I saw for the first time in over 2 years Alliant 2000MR so I bought a few. Alliant powders over the past 2 years have been VERY spotty as far as availibility.

Interesting.

In my neck of the woods, in terms of pistol powders, Alliant has shown the most consistent (relatively speaking) supplies. Blue Dot and Red Dot especially. But also Unique, Power Pistol, Bullseye, and 2400. Enough to where I've turned way and not bought any because I already had mine (may have been a mistake in the case of Bullseye ;)).

Well, I understand the nostalgia effect. I was at the range one day and a guy next to me was shooting something the smell of which brought back vivid childhood memories--that way smells often do. So much so I had to ask him what he was loading. Can't remember how what powder it was, but it was .357 Mag he was shooting. It as a powder I'd consider using just to get that delightful aroma that brought back happy memories so vividly.

I'm the same way on Nitro 100...I was plastering all my load data all over the place and telling everyone how nicely it worked in 40SW IDPA loads--then I realized one needs to achieve a balance between being 'helpful' and being able to find powder. :)

. . . ^^ :D ^^

'bout a year-n-a-half ago, I was at a steel challenge match and there was a guy who went on and on badmouthing Win 231 (& HP-38) for the better part of the day, it seemed. I was a bit astonished because I've never known anybody to have a bad thing to say about W231.

It took me a little longer to figure it out than I care to admit; but I did soon enough, none-the-less.

Yup...and I'll tell you what really stinks is H110, 2400 and that W296 crap. My goodness I can't believe they even bother to make that junk anymore. ;)
