When you go to the range, how much is recreation, how much is training?

Lately it's been mostly target accuracy and trigger control, but I always try to do a little of everything, point shooting etc. It seems everytime I do go down to the range, it's to show someone else how to shoot! I don't mind, but I spend more time helping them than practicing.

If you train with the right mindset, then it should be 100% training and 100% recreation.

You should WANT to train. It's supposed to be fun.

Hard to quantify. Truth be told, It's probably 75 : 25 recreation : training.

My problem is I keep buying guns. I want to go shoot them, learn more about them...

What I need to do is be more disciplined and train with my carry piece EVERY time I go out to shoot something else. Shoot some trap, train with the G30. Do some long range, train with the G30, et cetera. Training with the G30 is fun too, but I get the distinction. I don't get out as often as I'd like, and when I do I like a little variety.

I won't go so far as to say I lose the ability to shoot my carry pistol well, but I really could try harder to keep it razor sharp.

The other thing that's tough for me is working weekends - I don't get out with my friends / competitions are usually on weekends, et cetera. I feed off others quite a bit. It pushes you a little harder.

...and that's the troof. :)

It's all training for me. Actually I call it "keeping current." And every single minute of it is fun and relaxation. Probably always will be unless I have to shoot to save my life one day, God forbid. I'm sure that would be sheer terror.

It's all training to me to. Same goes for martial arts. I don't play out there. I usually have a 'theme' for the day as to what I need to practice and how I'm going to do it with what ammo I have.

I have my own stands, timer, mover, and other aids to get the most out of each session.

Depends on the gun.

PT745 - CCW practice, draw, aim, fire, different angles and such.

Jetfire - BUG practice, close target, rapidfire at a silhouette.

SIG P220 - Home defense practice and fun both, because it's so effortlessly accurate.

Soviet Tokarev - Incidentally scaring the ____ out of everyone else on the range with the fireball and report issuing from a small, slim semiauto. :D

Taurus Judge - *BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM* "HAHAHA!" ...fun. ;)
