Don't forget the so called friends on all the forums that are looking to unload their stashes at inflated prices. Even those in our "community" that are cashing in on the shortages for their personal gain should be shunned as the Amish do.

If they accumulated their "stashes" back when ammo was cheap and plentiful, what do you care if they unload some of it at a profit?

^^^and that applies to the stores as well - but the store has to TRY and replenish stock, pay employees and stay open during times of no inventory

Why stop there? Why not blame those other so called friends who have ammo but who are not doling it out to everyone else at cost? We aren't trying to make a profit, but we sure as heck aren't supplementing your shortsightedness either.

You had 4 years to prepare for this, 3.5 if you waited for the last shortage to pass. Stop blaming everyone else.

I cannot hold it against anyone that they want to make a buck. Make a living. Earn their way. Provide for their existence.
It sure is a lot more admirable than the welfare cheats.
And nobody NOBODY has to pay any price. If they are new they need to do their research. And decide if they want to pay an inflated price. If they make the wise decision and don't pay it, what happens? The price goes down.
So the ones to blame are the ones who pay any price, or who don't know that it is an inflated price.
They should be a wise shopper, a smart shopper, not a panic buyer.
They are the ones to blame. But they set their own punishment. They pay foolish prices.

According to dictionary.com, gouging is:

to engage in swindling, overcharging, or the like: I bought my clothes there before they began gouging.

It is not a legal term.

I used to lament the fact that all of the big box stores were going to run the small mom and pop guys out of business. I no longer feel that way, it is the mom and pop brick and mortars and the small online retailers that are gouging. The big box stores are dealing with the supply and demand challenge by limiting how much each customer can purchase to discourage flippers and to maximize the number of people who will be able to buy ammo, and in some cases firearms, without having to go to the gougers.

I, for one, appreciate Academy, Bass Pro and Walmart (my local big box ammo stores). I also appreciate the online guys who have put loyalty and customer service above short term gain knowing that in the long run it will pay off.

The free market is not just about supply and demand. There are a lot of factors which dictate markets. Customer service, word of mouth, and repeat business are all factors too.

I've deleted a couple of posts. Since people are starting to get personal, it seems there's nothing useful left to say. Closed.
