When an LCP is too big:

I realize most of you consider anything less than a .454 Casull to be inadequate. The unwelcome visitor to my house will meet a .45 ACP, but I most often carry a PM9, and have for several years, as pocket carry works best for my day to day. In jeans (due to the pocket configuration) and in lighter weight Docker types, I prefer the LCP. It is much slimmer than even the PM9 and hides great. When I am concerned that even the LCP might show, there's this:

NAA Black Widow, PUG Grips, .22WMR:

Flame on...:D

If you're concerned the LCP might show... then your pants are too tight :)

Honestly though, the only way I'm carrying one of those as my primary HG is if I'm planning a trip to the beach... or prison. Haha, don't get me wrong, I'd like to have one. I just can't think of an occasion when my attire couldn't conceal an LCP, etc.

+1. "Sorry sir, is that a LCP in your pocket or are you just glad to see us?"

In all seriousness, I hate pocket carrry but find the LCP pretty easy to tuck into my front pocket without being "made" as I'm out and about.

Not sure I follow your logic. Your pic clearly shows that the .22 is longer than the LCP, and I'm betting it's wider as well. So it's less "tall", but the holster negates that advantage as well...

To each his own, but I don't get it.

Problem is, the mini-revolvers are slow to load/unload, and they don't lend themselves to fast or accurate shooting, and just don't seem to be a particularly practical defensive weapon. I still wouldn't wanna be on the receiving end, but still. If you want something genuinely smaller without making quite so many sacrifices, maybe try the Kel-Tec P-32, it's literally slightly smaller in every dimension. A little thinner, with a slightly shorter height and shorter OAL, and something like 3 ounces lighter too.

Between a DeSantis Superfly pocket holster, and an Ace Case tuckable IWB holster, Unless naked:eek:, I've never had a problem concealing my LCP.

When the 22 Mag is too big - get the 22S version! I have one. It's the tiniest and cutest thing.

BTW, if you are worried about reloads - don't carry this. As far as accuracy, practice. For grins, I once shot the old TX DPS CHL protocol with my 22 mag. Got about a 230. Max is 250, which is easy to shoot with a regular semi. However, you do see some wild shooters.

The 22 Mag is what it is. Better than a stick and a shriek. They have been used successfully. I've yet to see a story where a DGU went bad because the zombie meth biker ignored being shot by one.

LCP

I think you are being overly cautious about the LCP. I have never been asked what I had in my pocket. Not even a strange look and I carry mine all the time. One thing does happen over time with jeans is you begin to get a wear mark but you still can't tell it's a gun. Of course my jeans aren't tight either.

An LCP too big?! I don't get it.

NAA minis are super kewl, IMO. I just can't imagine a situation where that's all the gun I could carry. I'm a 9'er myself, so I agree that a lot of people go way too far with their caliber of choice for CC, but even I think a .22 is far less than ideal. It's almost misleading, I think. I might be a little more sure of myself than I should be carrying that. I guess really if I knew I'd need the gun, I'd prolly want a howitzer or the Navy's new rail gun:eek: I might be more likely to use a contact weapon/edged weapon than a snub nosed single action .22.

Simplest solution is to get a pocket holster for the LCP that has an antiprint panel. Then it simply looks like an iPhone or a wallet. Nothing about the simple rectangular print says "pistol".

When I started carrying my P-3AT in a holster with an anti-print panel I switched my wallet to my back left pocket from my back right. It took a couple of weeks to get used to the switch. With the wallet in the back left and the pistol in the front right there is no angle where someone can see two wallet shaped bulges.

Well, it was only intended to be a half serious post and I have some pretty serious defense handguns, for those worried about my safety. But:

A respected fellow TFLer.

It is actually much, much smaller and much less "blocky" in the pocket than the LCP. More like a medium knife. Not even as chunky as a Buck 110. The holster http://www.concealmentholstersolutions.com/ is absolutely flat in the pocket, and just keeps the pistol (revolver) oriented correctly; less obtrusive than even my favorite Nemesis pocket holsters. Flat slick leather, with a "push off" and a hook.

Cute riposte, but actually, I do find myself frequently in dress slacks, dress shirt, tie, no jacket, in board meetings, etc. , in front of a group, and the LCP is blocky and obvious to my objective eye, whether anyone else would notice or not. And if you read between the lines, these are times when it could matter. I prefer to not be "without."

I have become pretty proficient with my 2" .22 mag. Heaven help the fool...

As many have stated before on many threads we all have to choose dress to carry clothing. Being concerned about printing is wise and on the other hand most folk you pass on the street or should I say in public, will not even notice whats in your pocket. You would be lucky for them to even notice "you"
Last week I was out on the motorcycle and carrying in a OWB. Little did I know the bottom 2" of the holster was sticking out from under my jacket. It stuck out like a sore thumb being it is a tan/brown holster. I only found it at a light when I pulled at my jacket. During the ride I had passed or been passed by 4 LEO in town, no one noticed. Just an example from my experience.

A mini bottle of hand sanitizer or a package of gum that comes in the flat foil package (eclipse) does wonders for breaking up outline in pocket. ;)

For those times when its difficult to wear a Desert Eagle in 50 AE in an inside the pants holster with full size 1911s in matching ankle holsters on each ankle as back-up - I think 5 rounds of 22 mag point blank is still a big suprise and a bad day for whatever bad thing is in front of it.

ive found that the .22lr mini fits perfectly in the small watch pocket of blue jeans. keeps it upright, easy access, and invisible(and easy to forget about as i washed it!)
