What's your typical range trip (#guns/#rounds/time/skills worked on)?

# guns: 2-3
# rounds: 250-400
time per trip: 90 minutes
frequency: once a month

I shoot at an indoor range that is in the back of a gun shop. I usually start off slowly at 10-15 yds. Eventually, I run the target all the way back (25yds) and occasionally switch to one handed shooting, using both my right and left hands. I run through 10 2x4 sized generic targets during this time. *I've ordered some fancier targets off the net for future use*

Where I shoot, I'm certainly shooting more rounds than anyone else and when I do an hour and a half it seems to be a little oddball to them (typical seems to be 30 or 60 minutes). I attribute the higher round count not to speed, but to the fact that I'm a little less conscious about ammo costs (just an explanation, not a boast), and to the fact that I have a bunch of magazines for each gun (soon to be 10 for the Sig, 8 for the Kimber, 10 for the Browning, etc).

=detail=
This is typically 150-200 rounds of 9mm, and the rest 45ACP. If I shoot my 22LR, it replaces a lot of the 9mm I'd otherwise shoot. I usually bring my 4 normal sized handguns (Kimber 1911, Walther PPS, SigP226, and Browning22) and shoot 2-3 of them.

An average visit to the range, for me, means bringing 2 or 3 handguns, usually .22 target handguns (usually a 10-shot S&W 617 and some other .22), plus my sidearm, and about 500 or so rounds of ammo (mostly .22). In an hour, I'll shoot about 200 rounds of .22 through one gun (usually the 617), Bullseye style, and maybe a handful through the others (and none through my sidearm). On a quiet day, I'll shoot up to 500 through one gun (again, usually the 617), focusing on Conventional Pistol skills.

On weekends when everyone wants to blast away with their black plastic toys, I'll bring some my own with bigger bores and make noise along with them...but I still only bring a couple, and I still tend to focus on one of them and a single skill set--either Bullseye target practice (with completely unsuitable calibers or weapons, like .357 Magnum in a Ruger Blackhawk) or defensive drills (.38 Special with a S&W Model 10 and OWB holster and a bunch of speedloaders).

ETA: I visit the range five or six times a week, since the range is on my way home from work, so all I can afford to really shoot is .22s--I have an annual membership to my local range, so I get in for 'free' (or really, I've been to the range so often that I've gotten it to below $1.60 per visit, and then add in 200ish rounds of bulk .22s which works out to ~$6, so it's pretty darn cheap for me--$50 a week).

I usually try to follow the format listed below...

Number of gun: 4-5
Number of rounds: 150-250
Time at range: 1-2 hours
Frequency: once a week
Skills worked on: 90% 5-15 yard COM off-hand and 10% 25-30 yards steel spinners

Lately this has been hampered by my schedule and my budget for ammo. Also the fact that I could not even find any .380 ammo last week and had to shoot some of my SD ammo as range ammo. :(

I normally shoot at a private outdoor range and bring every gun, the other shooters do the same. We allow each other to shoot any gun brought to the range. Always a great assortment and loads of fun. We each average shooting 400 to 500 rounds.

# guns: the only one I have:(:o:(
# rounds: 100
time per trip: 45 min-2 hrs
frequency: try to go at least once/week

-have only had my G21SF for a month and a half

-if I have ammo & the time, I go once/week

-work on hitting plates at ~20yds, COM/try for small patterns (term?) at about 10yds

-time range is a function of a regular ALWAYS being there when I am, he has helped me and we shoot the breeze as well, so time varies

Quick(ish) story: Last time I was there, he kept noticing my misses were going high (and they were last time, and when I shot at my parents')

He kept thinking the gun was shooting high, I kept saying I thought I needed to get used to the trigger (I had been suspecting myself all along as doing something weird)

I shot at a reactive dot a few times at about 10yds...high

Asked him to shoot it...first dead middle, next two a little high

He got me to use the rest...BIG messy hole...first 2-3 were scary dead on...turned around, laughing, and said, "Guess I answered that question!"

We both cracked up...oh well, at least my question was answered & I learned more that day than on any other - I was WAY more accurate after that & have not been back since (2 weekends ago) - I'm dyin' to get back to it

Too much money spent-not enough repeat trips and not enough different calibers or guns.

The last time I went about three months ago,it was three and a half hours shooting six different handguns and about eight hundred rounds fired.

Sounds impressive until you realize that 500 of those were 22 lr.

If I could,I'd shoot my handguns everyday.

In the morning, with my cup of coffee to keep me company.

In my private range(don't I wish).

Most of the skill work these days in close combat at no more than fifteen yards.

But I am about to slap myself up side the head and try to wring out my shooting skills at twenty five to fifty yards with my new to me 617.

I just have to find an outdoor tract of land that I can go to to shoot legal, safe and relaxed.

Wow! Every gun!?!? That must require a semi to haul every gun to the range.

I WISH! One of these days I HOPE I need a truck to haul all of my guns to the range :D Until then... I usually just take 2-3 handguns and 1-2 rifles. I usually shoot for at least 2 hours. 200 rds + a few hundred .22 rounds usually do the trick. I practice my aim mostly :)

Sometimes it depends on the other folks at the range. I was fortunate enough last week to have a very friendly father and son next to me. We got to talking and the next thing I know they are handing me guns right and left to try out. I got to shoot a few different revolvers that I had never handled before ( 44 Mag and .357 SA's ) and a Browning HP... Good times. That 44 mag had a bit of kick to it

My first trip to the range, I had barely walked up (I was just there checking the place out) and peopel were handing me guns - I took them up on most of them, but also told them I brought my pistol

The only one I felt bad about was NOT shooting a revolver in .44-40...it didn't go 'Bang', it went 'BOOOOMMM'

Indoor Range:
# guns: 1-3 handguns
# rounds: 30-200
time per trip: 1/2 to 1 hour
frequency: about once every 2-3 weeks

Handguns only at the indoor site, range of 5-50 ft. Usually practice accuracy and speed shooting at various distances from strong, weak, and two-handed grips.

Outdoor Range:
# guns: 2-6
# rounds: 50 - 300
time per trip: 1/2 to 3 hours
frequency: about once every 3 weeks

Pistol ranges 10, 20, 30 yards. Rifle ranges: 25, 50, 100, 200 yards.
I usually take 1-3 handguns and 2-3 rifles when I go. Practice accuracy on rifles, shooting from standing, crouching, and off-bench. I have a tendency to shoot my shorter guns to the right :(
For handguns, if I am the only one on the range, I will practice draw-fire, reload and SD drills from various distances. If there are others on the range, I am limited basic shooting from the firing line at fixed distances.

In the summer, I go to the outdoor range more, since there are no range fees (aside from annual dues, of course.) I would prefer to go more often, shooting less, but its too expensive or inconvenient. Since work in a differant place this summer, maybe I will bring some guns with me and just stop by the range (almost on my drive home anyway...) for a couple of mags a few times a week after work. I'd rather shoot ~20 rounds 3 times a week than 50 rounds once every two weeks, paying for range fees. Hmm....

# of Guns: 2-3: P-22 always, G26 or P-32 alternatively.
# of Rounds: 50 per gun
Time per Trip: 60-90 minutes
Frequency: Once per week

I use a shot timer and log each shot. My exact routine varies depending on what I am working on, but each session includes: draws from concealment, reloads, and malfunction drills. Distances vary from 3 yds to 15 yds. I use IDPA type targets with a "Q" target superimposed and 'charge' myself for every miss (extra chores).

With the cost of ammo what it is, I really don't plink much anymore.

Indoor / Outdoor range:
# guns: 0
# rounds: 0
time per trip: 0
frequency: once a decade
Skills: avoiding ranges, avoiding mall ninjas, avoiding meat puppets, avoiding gun voyers (you know... the guys that stare all day, then walk up to your weapons while you're down range, and look like they're going to molest them.), enjoying the availability of public land in our area.

Indoor Range - usually twice a week / 2 hrs per visit.
Guns: usually 2 guns / sometimes 3
Ammo: about 100 rounds per gun

What I work on...:
Double taps / speed out of holster
Changing mag - speed 2 taps, reload, 2 taps
Sometimes I slow it down / work on trigger pull and sight picture ...keep groups nice an tight. Sometimes I work on 2 targets - double tap one, then the other, etc.
Revolvers - coming out of holster, steady trigger pull

At the range I shoot a lot of 9mm ( in 1911's primarily ) / and some .45acp - in revolvers I shoot primarily .357 mag. Occasionally I'll mix in some .40S&W
and .44 mag / a little bit of .22 lr

Number of gun: 1-3
Number of rounds: 200-300
Time at range: 1-2 hours
Frequency: once a week
Skills worked on: everything. New to guns so just practicing trigger control and operation.

# guns: 4-5
# rounds: 300 - 500
time per trip: 2 hours
frequency: once every 2-3 months (not enough, I know)

I usually take all my guns, all my extra ammo, eyes, ears, cash to buy more ammo at the range if needed, and a packed lunch. I usually just work on 2+1 and double taps, maybe a little long distance shooting, and if they have the hostage targets I usually throw one of those in there.
