What's your Slide Lube ??

I also believe that people like Lucas Oil realized they could take product they are already producing change its packaging and sell it at a 400X market by calling it gun oil.

And yet they are often half the price of many other products on the market.

The only product that is repackaged and marked up might be their gun grease. But grease is always more expensive when shipped in smaller quantities, and their price is inline with the market. Everything else is either unique to their Outdoor Line, or is priced at a similar price point. Like the Outdoor Line Contact cleaner is sold at nearly the same price as the Racing Line Contact Cleaner.

I use FP-10. My best buddy uses WeaponShield. I believe that at one time a couple years back, they were the same product. I also believe they are not the same product these days. They seem to be quite similar and each has a similar (but not exactly the same) scent, they seem to be awfully similar products.

Occasionally in some far buried places (parts that are hard to get to and/or rarely accessed) I like to use Strike Hold which is a full synthetic lube. My thought process (or perhaps... my simple hope) is like this -- a full synthetic will not ever congeal or harden over time, because THAT nonsense is something I have dealt with, and far too many times. And I will keep dealing with it because I love used guns.

The best way to buy Lucas Extreme Gun oil is 8 ounce bottles. The worst, crazy way, is small 1 oz dispenser bottle. I am still working on my first 4 oz bottle and no end in sight. A little bit goes a long way. There is no need to have oil dripping out the trigger guard or magazine well.

I have little plastic bottles with 6 inch long brass neck that I refil as needed. That includes mystery oil and Lucas. I should also setup a 3rd with Kroil.

Mine bottles are labelled Dreusicke. I did a quick google and it seems these are expensive! I may have Chinese fakes or something. I got these cheap, cheap, I though harbor freight. I leave it to the reader. It should be an easy score.

Edit: Sewing Machine Oilers on ebay $1.50 to $4 You want small, I think 1 oz better than 4.

I don't get too excited about all the new lubes... I just use CLP or, in the case of my semiauto pistols, RIG +P stainless grease.

Hoppes gun oil, CLP, and white lithium grease. I use the grease on my semi-automatic slide rails, rm380 frame pin, and M1 Garand everything. CLP for general wipedown and lube of all my firearms. I use the Hoppes on some of the hard to access moving parts on the semi-autos. I use q-tip like make-up applicators to apply the grease. The make up applicators can be gotten cheap at Walmart for a pack of 25 or 30 in make-up department.

I primarily use CLP in a squeeze bottle.....its been working great for years. ( I don't think grease is a good option -- collects too much junk ).

On some guns I have used Wilson Combat Ultima Lube ...oils / but I tend to use them more on the internals ( Sear, Trigger parts, Hammer strut, etc )....

No matter what lube you choose (and everyone has their "pet lube") if you shoot in extreme cold go with a full synthetic lube. Dino based petroleum's with really thicken up in the extreme cold. Mobil 1 syn maintains a consistent viscosity year round so this is another good reason I "stick" with it !

CLP in the military OD green bottles...or Kroil for cleaning and lubing my cast bullet shooters. Military weapons grease in the pint sized cans....$2.00 the last time I bought some...like 15 years ago. The modern stuff is sure packaged pretty....LOL. Rod

Ballistol. Over the years I have been a sucker for so many of the lubes. Fact is I alway's come back to Ballistol. Alway's. And it does not gunk up, non toxic and has protected firearms I own that go back decades.
I recently bought a UltraSonic Cleaner. Yes, I have unopened a container of Hornady Ultrasonic cleaner and L&R Ultrosonic LUBE. However after first trying Balistol Milk (10% Ballistol and 90% water, the guns came out very clean with a very Light Lube on on the parts. And as I said, I do not worry about gunk building up.
I am fortunate in the fact that I have very few problems over the years with the slide using nothing but Ballistol. Will I use the Horady, and the L&R down the road to try? Maybe, but if it ain't broke, no need to fix.

I use Tetra grease on slides, Breakfree CLP on everything else. The Tetra lasts from one cleaning to the next. Stays put on the carry gun also.

Tetra is good. So is Montana Extreme. There is also Shooter's Choice. I pick up whatever I see first at the big box store. Grease has come a long way for gun care. If it says "gun" on the label, it is good to go.

I've used Hoppes and CLP for years without a problem but have been advised that they will discolor a Nitrided finish, hence the use of Weapon Shield and FP-10 on my duty finish Dan Wesson. Another hassle I didn't need.

Only gun I lube at all is my Sig Mosquito, which likes a drop or two in the oil hole on the slide and a bit on the slide rails. All other guns are adequately lubed by the Gunzilla CLP left on the metal from cleaning. Extra oil/grease attracts extra dirt/dust and gums up in cold weather. And I just don't think it's necessary for operation.

If a gun is cleaned after every 60-100 or so rounds, it should have too much crud on it.
Mine use cheap Russian ammo 99% of the time. The deposits are not thick at all---because they are often cleaned.

Mobil One grease works well in my CZ PO1, Sig 229, brand-new, retail shop M11 1A (P228 variation) and all five imported AKs (SAR-1, AMD-65, Maadi etc).

I received a small sample size tube of ALG GO JUICE with a Geissele trigger I ordered and applied some of it to the slide and rails of my carry gun seemed, to slick things up pretty nicely. :)
