Whats your SHTF weapon.

blackamos,

A Grand Wagoneer, eh?
That's my bug-out truck as well. Any hippy gets in the way of my '88 GW while I'm heading for the hills, and my FAL will be the least of his worries. :D
There's something to be said about those FSJs.

"Any hippy gets in the way of my '88 GW while I'm heading for the hills, and my FAL will be the least of his worries"

hahah.. and usually these threads are about running from biker mutants, black helicopters werewolves and other such denizens. WHO KNEW thats stinky dead head in Birkenstock's trading beads for a ticket to see Phish could cause such dread.

I wouldn't feel bad with an 870 or an AK.

Forget guns... ill use the mother-in-law and put her in the way of whatever "S" is coming my way... she could stop a clock just with one look...

someone wanna tell me what SHTF stands for...?
im guessing it has somethin to do with, if you had to grab one gun and run to the hills for life, which one would it be?
my choices...rifles..colt pre ban ar-15, steyr aug.. pistol.. sig 226.. walther p99...
sub gun, my uzi, and hk 94...

Feh! I'm gonna set right here, pop a top on another cold one, and maybe watch it all on TV, if it's not during huntin' season...

:D, Art

I don't believe that a military style assault will come my way. Rather doubt that large groups of roving looters will find my home. I fear all of the attorneys out there ready to sue at the drop of a hat. There lies the true danger to all of us.

Only major preparation involves a local armed gang entering my home with ill intent. My Vanged 870 would be my primary weapon of choice. My P7M10 should get me out of bed and over to the 870. A large dog and lit perimeter would probably be a smart move.

My self: a Bushmaster Xm15-A2 with 20"barrel and 8 USGI 30 rd mags plus 800 rds of Lake Cities M193 ball My Glock 32 with 3 high caps and 100 rds Gold Dot. Can't forget the delux military medical/surgical medics pack. Also my weimariner dog and pleanty of water and rice.

My wife will bring Her Professional Ordnance Carbon 15 type 97 and her Glock 19.

My 15 year old Daughter will bring her Ruger Mark one 22 and some extra mags and 1000 rds of CCI ammo.

hmmmm, I agree with a few above, it would depend on what kind of *S* hits the fan.

Either way, I'd grab:

Kimber Pro Elite, .45acp. No wait,
Kimber Custom Eclipse. 45acp, no wait,
Kimber Ultra CDP. 45acp, no wait,
Ruger 10/22 Target. Super accurate, no wait,
Benelli Super Black Eagle (camo) with lots of 00 buck, no wait,
Hi-Point 9mm Carbine with all the spare mags I can carry, no wait,
Browning 300WM for those long shots, no wait,

damn, I need a bigger truck!!!

If I could only grab one long gun and one pistol, it would be:

-AK (mine's in .223)
-Hi-Power

Both are reliable and accurate enough, and use "scrounge-able" ammo.

Why not a shotgun? I feel comfortable with the AK out to 200 yards. No shotgun can reach that far. And the AK can handle close-in or mob scenarios better than a scoped bolt-action.

SHTF scenario 1: long range - 1903 Springfield that someone sporterized w/scope rings & a 1903a3 barrel.

SHTF scenario 2: short range - Mossberg 500 12ga w/No 4 buck.

SHTF scenario 3: squirrel got in the house again - .177 cheap chinese 3B1 (?) air rifle. Adios, squirrel.

That darn scenario 3 happens all too often. In scenario 3, the letters SHTF: Spouse Hollering Terrified Freaked.

Bulgarian SLR100 AK-47. I didn't buy it for the situation, but because it gave me the warm fuzzies. If the situation arises, it should do fine in a pinch...

M1A. I can shoot it, or remove the stock and use it as a canoe. And I'll be shooting my BHP whilst riding in my canoe.

if S hit the fan, i would grab my paintball gun, because everyone knows that i wouldnt enjoy capping one of damn afgans or something :D it would be more freindly to shoot him in the eyes and run

Myself BHP & M14. My wife Llama .380 & Rem 22 Mag and stay in our house with enough ammo for the rest of our guns, food, water etc. because we are to old to hit and run.

Conformer. I hope you are right about SHTF. But if you are wrong you will be up the creek without S*!t. :p LOL

ditto Glock and AR

Glock 34 and my ultralight custom AR: A1 stock, A1 non fiorward assist upper, 16" fluted barrel. 5.5 lbs without the 40rd Sterling mags.
