What's your opinion of the new Dan Wesson?

I own several brands of DA Revolvers ..Rugers ,Taurus ,Rossi ,Charter, Smiths, and Dan Wesson....
They all are different...but I like'em all ..
But the Dan Wesson is the tops in my book, 2nd Ruger "S" series...

others pretty much all in the pot...each have a purpose

Interesting!

Would love to hear from someone who has one of the new ones as to how it shoots. I had a pistol pack and two other DW 357s in the past. My last two were 8 inch barreled guns and are really accurate with my cast bullets.

I really like that SS 8 inch look with full underlug.

If the new Dan Wesson 357 shows up out here I will buy it.

I bought my original Dan in 1980 from a friend who had bought it new and decided that he did not like revolvers. It is a great shooter. Shown here with a 4" barrel I bought for it on EBay:

The cylinder release position puts the cylinder lock right at its biggest stress point for the cylinder crane/yoke, which is a really smart place to put it, it's also quite a handy spot for it if you are a lefty, you just sort of shift your right hand forward, cradle the gun and pull down the latch with your first finger. Way better than bringing your hand around and working it with your thumb like on a smith...and don't even get me started on Colt's release.

I think $1100 is a CRAZY price for a 715 though.

IMHO, the S&W cylinder release is "wrong" and the DW is done right. It's not because I shot or carried a DW first, the first .38SPL and above revolver I shot was my first gun, a Taurus 83, so it was just like a bad, very bad, S&W. The first time I opened the cylinder up on the first 15-2 I had bought, I wondered why it would be done any other way. I'm more ambidextrous than most people, so that might have something to do with it. The only problem I see with the new one is the pricing. But when people pay $700 for a polymer framed gun, $1000 or so for a hunk of stainless steel doesn't seem that bad..

sold!

For $955! I guess I won't have one if they all go for that much!

I sold a 6 inch extra barrel and shroud I had late last year for $275 so the DW collectors are out there.
