What's your favorite Kimber?

I have a Classic Custom that I'm very fond of, but if I could find one of the Elite Carry models which was the precursor to the CDP line, I would probably buy it. I like the look of the Black slide and anodized silver frame rather than the CDP's stainless slide and black anodized frame.
The Elite carry also had 30 LPI checkering, nite sights and meltdown.

I have one of each size (Ultra Carry, Compact Stainless, Custom Royale). All are very nice guns, accurate, reliable, etc., but I like the COmpact the best. I recently put Ashley Big Dot Express sights on the Ultra and was very impressed with both the overall accuraty and fast, easy sight acquisition, so now I'll add them to the Compact. For me, it's the right in-between size for carry and balance. The only thing I'd change is I'd like one with the alloy frame.

I have the Classic Stainless that I bought back in October.
It's the base model with the fixed sights. I decided to go this route, as I could custumize and add features as the check book would allow. I have since swapped out the plastic mh for an Ed Brown and added a beveled mag well and some Ahrend's rosewood grips. I just had some Heinie night sights installed and polished the feed ramp myself.
I think the next thing will be to switch to a Wilson slide stop and add some 8 round Wilson mags, and I should be good to go for awhile.
All together, I've got maybe a grand in it so far. With the grips and mag well,It looks just like one of the higher end guns, and shoots just as good probably too.

You guys are gonna get sick of hearing about it but my Kimber Gold Match Stainless in 10mm with Ashley Express tritium sights :D. Whatta shooter!!!!

You can get a Gold Match in 10mm? No kidding. :)

Now there's something to sleep on ;) What did that rig run you? I don't see 10mm listed as an option on the Kimber pages. Did you have it beefed up? Call me curious :)

GRD,

I bought the .40 Gold Match for a grand, then I bought a Schuemann Classic barrel for $150. #22 Wilson spring cost $8. I had extra link pins and links in my parts box. I already had all the tools (reamer, files, vice pads, etc.). And I had a few 10mm mags, so it cost about $1200 not including the Ashley sights.

The "old" Elite Carry compact have even though it has "Cabbage Shredder" 20 LPI checkering on the frontstrap."
