1. First off, asking internet gun board nuts their favorites is most definitely NOT the best way to figure out what to stock for bubba - we are a bit on the odd, eclectic side as a group. Gun nerds, if you will. We're gonna like off-the-wall stuff in addition to the most popular. Which is why I've been very reluctant to answer. But nevertheless, I'll answer: .270 winchester, 130 grain Federal Power-Shok, or Federal Vital-Shok, among many others. That's pretty mainstream, so that may help you.

2. The best way to figure out what to stock is to go to Academy, Bass Pro, Walmart, Sportsman's Warehouse, Dick's, Gander Mountain, Cabela's, or your local gunstore and "snoop" on them - try to take a notepad to take notes. They stock what they stock for a good reason. They've researched to the gills to figure how to maximize profit. Emulate the best of your competitors when in business.

3. In my estimation, you have to look not only at what sells a lot, but also what has a high profit margin. The WSMs and other "hot" items right will make you more profit per box, and new shooters who buy a new rifle in those calibers will need a box or two to go with, since they won't have that ammo at home. So you need to stock the short mags. They cost you more per box, but you can charge plenty to cover that and make a higher profit.

4. You need all the big 4 makers: Remington, Federal, Winchester, and Hornady (as well as the Federal-Fusion), and then multiple lines from each, from basic (Express, Power-shok, Fusion, etc.), to premium, to ultra-premium (high profit margin). You also may want to add a few Black Hills offerings if BH is known in your area.

5. The calibers I'd cover, at least in this state would be, in order: .30-'06 spgfld, 7mm Rem mag, .270 win, .30-.30 win, .300 win mag, .243 win, .300 WSM, .25-'06 rem, 7mm WSM, .223 rem, .22-250, .280 rem, .308 win, .270 WSM, .338 win mag, 7mm-'08, and rimfires - then if you had more room, add .300 Wby mag, .303 brit, .220 swift, .260 rem, 6mm rem, .22 hornet, and maybe a couple of WSSMs - .223 WSSM and .243 WSSM.

Jseime: WHICH ".270"?
WHICH "7mm mag"?
WHICH ".300 mag"?
In light of the popularity of the short mags, you need to be more specific.
