What's Your Favorite "Forgotten" Cartridge?

Hello, Well the Hornet is making a comeback.. so not quite forgotten...But I like to shoot cast bullets in mine..so I guess it's closer to the .22WCF? Now here is a FUN one: .236 (6mm) Winchester-Lee navy.,
.25-25 Stevens, .25-20 S.S., 7X57, .30-40 Krag, .32-40, .38-55,
.40-50 Sharps B.N., .40-70 Sharps B.N., .40-70 str., .577/.450 M.H., .577 Snider.

This is my favorite,,, I have an original Burnsides but only one round so extensive firing is difficult at best.;)

.348WCF... a good cartridge in a good rifle a good bit late (the lever-action was on it's way out, displaced by the bolt action, IMO.)

I still have 1 of the 5 Browning 71's we got some years ago and, yes, it's a shooter!

Yet another vote for the .22 Hornet, mine's a Ruger #1. Fun to shoot, doesn't annoy neighbors a half mile away, still fun to shoot after 50 rounds have gone downrange, you can afford to put 50 rounds downrange if you reload your ammo.

5mm remington magnum

.222 rem

6mm rem - Superior to the .243 win, I dont care what anybody says.

.280 rem

Interesting that mine are all remington cartridges.

You've got one, right?

Yep.

Most of those listed aren't quite forgotten since you can still buy new guns chambered in those rounds.

I've always been enchanted with the idea of a .33 Winchester or a .256 Winchester in either a Winchester Highwall or Martini action...

45 Winchester Magnum. I know we're in the Rifle forum, and I want a 45 WM carbine. The forgot about the cartridge, but a cool little hi-cap carbine in 45 WinMag would probably bring the cartridges popularity back. I would buy one or two.

45 WinMag Mini-45 anyone? :D
45 WinMag AR upper? :D

This would be a great little thumper and would seriously outclass any .223 on the market for practical uses.

5mm

Well, since Centurion brouight the 5mm back its not forgotten, but it the 5mm is/was a favorite.

A second vote to the .30 Rem. A Rem model 14 pump was my first real deer rifle, chambered in same.

My former neighbor was a gunsmith (now retired) and built the most beautiful Ruger #1 on a .257 Roberts Ackley Improved and was the sexiest little cartridge I've ever seen and some really good ballistics.
