I voted other, because a lot of the rifles I own are sporterized military rifles. However, I don't really discrimanate on brands I like them all if the rifle fits my needs.
Since this is The Art of the Rifle: General forum, I voted Remington. I have more Remington bolt actions, from .22LR to .30-06, than any other make. I have a special affection for Model Sevens.
Had you asked this question in the Handgun forum, you'd no doubt have gotten a different answer.
Springfield as in M1 Rifle aka Garand, Remington made the 1903A3 that comes next.
I do have a Ruger 10/22 and that is the only commercial maker in my safe.
I voted Remington, for me it's because of all the hunting i've done through the years with Remington firearms 870 wing masters,1100s,11-87 shotguns along with 550-1 and the 552 auto loading 22lr rimfire rifles, and the centerfire rifles 721,700s,742,7400s have always been reliable in all types of hunting conditions.
Don't get me me wrong there's a lot other well made firearms and I also own several other brands,it just seems most of the time I go into the field hunting it's with a Remington.
Ruger has done some great things in the past 5-10yrs in firearm development and production. No matter what ruger you buy you get great quality at a fair price. God Bless America.
I voted other because there is no one answer.
Bolt action (commercial centerfire) Remington 700
Bolt action (rimfire) Savage
Bolt action (surplus/C&R) Mauser
Lever action (centerfire) Marlin
Lever action (rimfire) Henry
Semi-auto (commercial centerfire or rimfire) Ruger
Semi-auto (surplus/C&R) M1 Garand
If it's a .22, Ruger definitely has my vote.
If it's a hunting weapon, Remington.
If it's a tactical shotgun, Mossberg.
Pistols, semi-auto rifles, battle rifles, and just about everything else, HK, Walther, and FN all have some place in my heart.
Had to vote other, just too many good companies to pick just one .
