What's your favorite 9mm auto??

Hi all,

Advice please - I have been shooting handguns for about 2 years now, and to date have a .40, .44, .32 and .22. Would like to pick up a 9mm, preferably something less then $350, also has to be on the Kali (Hawk, spit on Feinstein) *list*.

All my pistols to date have been hammerless (except the .44) and I think I prefer that design, but am not that particular. DA/SA, whatever...basically would like to get a list of favorites so I can try the most popular ones out and see what I like.

Thanks!

three weeks ago it would have been one of my Glocks (19, 34, 26), now it's a CZ75B which as it happens is about $350 at least that's what i paid for mine

Man, you are about to start a flood of resposes.

My favorite is my Beretta 92FS. My CZ-75B is a close second. If you are aiming for less than $350, go with the CZ. Don't let the low price fool you, they are fine handguns made in a country with lower labor costs.

You're not going to have much luck in CA with that price range unless you buy used, and even that'll be hard.

In addition to a CZ, I think that I've seen new Isreali Baby Eagles and Jerichos for around $350 in CA.

If you want to stay within the $350 budget, you couldn't go far wrong with one of the FEG Hi-Power clones. Usually available from about $219-259, depending on which part of the country you're in. Accepts all the standard HP stuff like sights, etc. The Hi-Power is a very natural pointing pistol, I really like my FEG.

FEG v. CZ

I've had both in 9MM. Although I am a fan of FEG, and still have my .380 (along with two Colts), I sold my FEG 9MM when I bought my CZ-75. The difference is night and day. I hope you can find one--start looking now.

Regards.

Another vote for the CZ75. Just picked mine up today and took it to the range. Also own a Glock 34 and Ruger P95.

Well, I know y'all are gonna laugh, but I love my Firestar. reliable, cheap, compact and I have shot the hell out of that thing with no problems and have always had good accuracy

As with a fewe other posters here, I really like the Hi Power clones. I have a FEG myself. It cost me $200 plus tax, really nice gun for the money.

Right now it is one of my 92Fs. It has brought me good shooting this season, and will carry me into the Governor's 20. Love the Hi Power, love the 228.

Beretta 92FS

I know it is a good bit over the price range ya quoted, but I have to say that to date and for the last several years, the standard full-size Beretta 92FS has been not only my favorite 9mm, but my favorite handgun all the way around, if I had to pick a favorite.
I have carried it on and off duty back when in le and I know use it as my prefered chl handgun. While it is a large handgun, I have found that with proper dress it can be concealed with reasonable comfort and I feel a lot better knowing if something went down I would have what I feel is one of the better handguns I could choose. It has been totally reliable, durable and accurate.
Something could go wrong tomorrow, but so far it has been great and I really don't look for it to change.
I wish ya the best on your choice, there are a lot of really great ones out on the market, Beretta, Sig and many others.

with a flood of responses,

May I add mine? There are numerous 9m/m's out there that will "fill the bill", of a quality
auto-loader. Along with the CZ75B, BHP, Glock
models (17-19-26), Beretta 92F's; there's two
that stand tall and proud. These are the Classic
"P" series Sig-Sauer's, models P226 and P228.

You won't get one of these babies for the aforementioned figure of $350.00; but the
differnce is definitely worth the wait!!!
Price would start at or near the $600.00
mark; unless you decide upon an LEO trade-in.

You ask for my personal favorite? The compact
size P228 with high capacity magazines, get's
my vote everytime!!!:):D

Ruger P-Series pistols are around $350. They go for less, too. I like the KP95DC. Means it's a stainless decocker model. Accurate, reliable, easy to take care of. That would go high on the list.

Glock 17s are good, Browning Hi-Powers are good, Beretta 92s are good, although those are all way above $350 new. I haven't shot a CZ75, but when I played with one in a gun store it was nice. Very tight fit, nice sights, handled well. They are around $350, as well.

Good luck.
