What's your Fancy

Well Doc, you kind of stumped me. I guess on an hours actually carried the auto wins. For my LCP is always in my pocket. Also, I when possible I carry a Kahr CM 9, or Speingdield Armory XD40 Sub Compact. However, in the coldest months, when wearing a heavy coat, I guess you could say my first defense is my Ruger LCR 38 Spcl. revolver. In an outsudw coat pocket.
I don't in general prescribe to the "accuracy by volume" tennant of large capacity carry guns.

When it's time for CC it's a semi-auto, when I head for the woods it's a revolver.

Truth be told an LCP and .45 Blackhawk convertible would be enough guns.

I switched to a semi a few years ago after several years of carrying a revolver. I got to thinking about the math of multiple rounds being required to effect a stop, and how many misses or ineffective hits could occur and decided I should increase capacity.

A semi - I've shot semis and revolvers in IDPA and more tactical matches. A good semi is superior. Not that a revolver wouldn't work but the semi is much better.

A 9mm with 10 rounds or more and an extra mag - that is my EDC. Yeah, I got smaller as bugs or mowing the lawn guns but optimal is as I described it.

I carry a revolver. A 6" 357 magnum revolver. I have carried it for 45-6 years. I have competed with it, trained with it, hunted with it, and just plain plinked with it. I have had it longer than my wife. We are good friends, the gun and I. I trust it to always work and I trust myself with it. It is never too heavy or too bulky to fit under my clothes. I have never felt "under gunned" or short on firepower. I have only had to draw it once in defense and that was against a mare who decided I was a threat to her colt. She reached the end of the tether, that I didn't know about, before it was necessary to fire. It has killed two white tails and a mule deer with single shots. I hope that I will never have to use it but I am confident that my training and practice will be good enough.

I prefer revolvers, but am flexible. My carry pieces include three revolvers and two semi-automatics. I feel a little more comfortable with the revolvers, but carry the semi-autos occasionally.

I have grown up shooting both but always enjoyed revolvers more and so until about three weeks ago I always carried an SP101. Always stoked with 38 +p rounds and never felt undergunned.

I live on some acreage with a driveway that's about 1/3 mile long, no one comes there unless they are intending to. About 2 1/2 weeks ago my family and I came home at about 10:30 at night and three guys walked out of my woods. One at 2 o'clock and two of them at my seven. My family was already exiting the vehicle before they came out of the trees and I immediately wished I had something with more rounds as I didn't know what was about to happen and it was a wide area of engagement with my family in the middle of it.

It turned out to be three very drunk guys that went for a walk in the woods from my neighbors about a mile away and couldn't find their way home... not quite comfortable with their story even now but knowing the feeling of wishing for more rounds that I felt then… changed my daily carry. P229 or PX4 compact for me everyday now.

Depends on where or what I am doing. On my Bike it's old school S&W model 37 in my pocket. If it's where I wear jacket or shirt out it's Springfield XDS 3.3

I carry a Pico or LCP, and am trying to ease into carrying a XD-S 4.0 AIWB. The right holster will be the key to that.

I like revolvers, especially short ones, but I find the little autos much easier to hide.

70% of the time I carry a revolver, 30% a semi-auto.

Revolvers are my cup of tea, always have been always will.

Occasionally my G27, XD-M2 45, or my CZ 75 PCR get a ride, but most of the time my revolvers (too many to list) accompany me.

I carry a Glock 30 most of the time, but I also carry an SP101 in .357 magnum. When it comes to shooting I would expect a 158gr .357 magnum to extinguish a man's life more effectively than any other round I could effectively carry and fire. I have 100% faith in the .357 Magnum 158gr Speer Gold Dot rounds I have selected to carry in my SP101 and I recommend them to anyone reading this post.

However, I must say I prefer the idea of 11 rounds to the idea of 5 rounds in this day and age. I expect to fight a group of many rather than an individual if I am in a shooting situation, and five rounds is insufficient. Additionally, if I need to reload quickly I can count on loading a magazine into a semiautomatic such as a Glock with ease, I could see myself easily fumbling a reload in the SP101. Polymer Glock magazines are downright slick and they easily and affirmatively lock into place.

I still carry both from time to time, but I generally favor the Glock now and only grab the SP101 when I want to throw something in my pocket rather than run IWB.

My main carry is a 642 revolver. Have carried a 2-1/2" 19 and an LC9 but the 942 can go in a pocket or IWB holster, not so with the others. I don't carry reloads for any of them.
Main guns for shooting are 1911s, 625 and 586.

I'm a revolver guy, love em. But, I carry my LC9s all the time. Holds 3 more rounds than my old J-frame, with a ten round mag in reserve. The little Ruger has been 100% reliable through a couple thousand rounds of all types of ammo. At 5-10 yds it's very accurate and for me natural to point and shoot. It conceals and carries better than any other CC gun I've owned so I don't mind carrying it all the time.

In 1969 I started this long journey with a S&W model 60 38 Special. Decided that wasn't enough and went pistols....1911 45 acp all the way to Walther PPK 380 over the years. All this real world experience has brought me back to the revolvers again .
A 2004 real world armed robbery and shooting, involving myself, showed the need for speed in these situations you do not want to fumble with safeties , slides and such, draw and fire. Since 2005 I'm back to a J frame in 38 Special , Airweight for summer and a 5 shot snub nose , 45 acp revolver(Taurus 455) for winter .
I've tried them all. Revolvers have risen to the top through experience for myself.

I now have owned and fired both Revolvers and Pistols. My question is what would you rather carry for Self Defense out in the real World?

I am comfortable with either. I feel equally as protected carrying my S&W Model 65 .357 magnum as I do a 1911. To a large extent it depends on what I am wearing. A single stack 9mm can be fairly easily carried IWB and concealed with a loose fitting tee shirt. Whereas, an N-frame revolver works better for me OWB and requires a heavier outer garment to effectively cover.

Per the ATF:
The term “Pistol” means a weapon originally designed, made, and intended to fire a projectile (bullet) from one or more barrels when held in one hand, and having:

a chamber(s) as an integral part(s) of, or permanently aligned with, the bore(s);

and a short stock designed to be gripped by one hand at an angle to and extending below the line of the bore(s).

So a revolver is NOT a pistol, but they are both HANDGUNS.
