What's your Fancy

I now have owned and fired both Revolvers and Pistols. My question is what would you rather carry for Self Defense out in the real World??
As always, all responses are welcomed and expected.

I'll bite...

I prefer a pistol. I started with a revolver but now prefer a pistol. More capacity, lighter trigger for improved accuracy.

"If six 'taint enough, you're dead anyway!"

"If you can't hit with six, sixteen won't do you no good, son!"

"I'd rather have six for sure than 15 maybe!"

I carry auto pistols. No stupid tropes needed. :)

A full sized 1911 in 5" with 10 + 1 in 9mm is my choice ....but once in a while I will still put a revolver in .357 mag on my belt - and lately its been an 8 shot model in a 2 5/8" barrel...

My EDC is a Ruger LCP.
I love that little guy
Next in line is the .45acp Shield - followed by a full sized Kimber 1911.

I PREFER revolvers, but I've found as I got older I just want something small and light. A Ruger LCP fits that bill nicely for me.

As cooler weather comes on and I start wearing baggy sweat shirts again, I might switch back to my LCR...or maybe not.

I am old, live in the country, only go into a very small town to buy groceries. I carry an S&W M36 snubby in my right-hand pocket via a Bianchi pocket holster. I wear suspenders with no belt. Unobtrusive, simple (no safety to find and switch-off. Not going to stop any bank robbery, rescue anyone...just mind my own business. I don't want the hassle of carrying anything bigger.

I have a 642 that sits in the safe 100% of the time. My LCP beats it out for carry...

I currently have 4 pistols for CC that are used and the 642.

I prefer a snub nose for my daily carry. I like the ability to fire from a coat pocket if absolutely necessary. A semi auto would most likely only fire that way once. Which may be enough but if I've got a guy tackling me and i can't get him off, I'd like to be able to pull the trigger multiple times from my jacket pocket. Assuming I'd got my hand in my pocket before I ended up on the ground.

But I also carry a mid size semi auto out and about when I'm dressed for it.

So all in all, probably 75% revolver and 25% semi auto.

These days it just so easy to slip into a pocket one of the flat little semi's when I'm at work. Now when I'm not at work you can find anything IWB, it is just what type of mood I'm in and where I'm going that will help me pick out a weapon. Some days its full size 1911 and others its my S&W 627 UDR, you just never know.

A semi-auto pistol, hands down.

When a semi-auto malfunctions, it can almost always be cleared and stay in the fight.

When a revolver malfunctions (I've seen it happen), it goes down. HARD.

Single action auto pistol with a thumb safety.

In my old age I'm migrating away from all-steel 1911s, and have been carrying a SIG P938.
Two months ago I would have sung the praises of that gun to anyone who'd listen, as it is every accurate, very easy to shoot - has great sights and trigger - but, the last time I shot it, I had three functional issues with it, after 1000+ trouble-free rounds, and while I won't condemn the gun, or the concept of the auto pistol, it does trouble me.

The only revolver that I would consider for defensive use would be a J-frame S&W or a Colt D-frame if I could find a nice one.
