What's the Very Best .45 for Under $1000

Glock is best????

The trigger pull sucks period.
Polygonal rifling, leads up with reloads, so you need an aftermarket barrel or no lead reloads.

Does not fit smaller hands cant adjust grip size.

Glock is a good service weapon not a good range gun period.

I cant shoot one worth poop, so it would be a lousey choice for me.

YMMV try it first before you buy it.:p

Here is a comment on Masterblasters post.

Actually it does take some getting used too at first I did not like it. But with some shooting it becomes the easist system next to a 1911 to hit with at speed with accuracy. It has a short reset and a reasonable weight of 5.5 pounds or 3.5 if you prefer lighter. Forget the heavier options.

Your point is. Who cares about lead plated and jacketed are better anyway. If you want a barrel 150 bucks is not that expensive.

Depends on the glock. I have short fingers yet I find the GLock 17/22/31 frame just fine. I carry a issue GLock 21 and its large for me but I shoot expert with it none the less. You can get a grip reduction if you want.

Its both a great service weapon and a good range gun. I plink with my 24 with a fiber optic sight for fun and I can get 2 inch groups at 25 yards with it. My 21 and 31 both do about 2.5 inches for me at that range if I do my part.

I think you could shoot one very well with just a little bit of training and practice. But to each his own. There are other good guns out there.

This is good advice for any gun.

Bob Locke is correct. The CZ97B is the best value!

I paid $429 for a new 10 round CZ97B that is more accurate than my Kimber CDP.

It is beautifully crafted and is made with "real" material. Nothing is going to break on this handgun even with hard use.

I have not had a single jam in 700 rounds.

It is not in the same class as my Wilson. But, for the price of the Wilson, I can buy almost four CZ97B's and they will stop an attacker equally as well!

Here is my CZ97B

I find this post interesting, since the initiator never stated as part of the requirements if they wanted a single stack (Low Capacity) or double stack (High Capacity) gun.

The main advice I could give you is to test out the various handguns available on the market today at your local range that way you wont regret after the fact the gun that you purchased. After all you don’t buy a car without a test drive and unless you’re from certain third world countries you don’t marry someone sight unseen. Why would you do the same with a major purchase since for most individuals, this discretionary spending?

BTW, if your local range doesn’t have any of the models that you would like to test then your next best bet is to subscribe to Gun Tests magazine. What I like about them is that they don’t accept advertising dollars, which means they are beholden to no distributor or manufacturer like some of the other publications are. http://www.gun-tests.com/

saving some money?

Take a Mauser/SigArms M2 around the block for a while.

Accurate, reliable, concealable as heck. 400 bucks. Top that.

Sig P220

I shot a beretta 8045 that was very good also. I'm trying out my shooting partner's Kimber in 2 days. Drool.

my choice..45 auto well under 1000

i have a colt 1991a1,park finish.the gun shoots great,no problems.there are a ton of add ons available for it.

Springfield Loaded because if you ever have a problem with it, Springfield's customer service is excellent.

Glock 30, incredibly accurate in a compact package, easy to handle and remarkably recoil free in my hands.

Spend the rest of the money on ammo and training.

WOLV314 had it right!

Glock 21, Glock 30, Ruger P90, Ruger P97. I own a G30, and I have owned a P97 as well. Both great guns. The P97 can take whatever you can dish.
