An easy forearm weight for an 1100 (and other stick guns) is a spent shell filled with shot in the front of the mag tube. My 1100 has a little weight in the mag tube and in the stock. It' a trap model with a second trap barrel cut to Skeet length.
I have only shot 4 autoloaders, but out of those, my Beretta 3901 12ga has had the least amount of kick out of them. I have consistently heard that Beretta autoloaders are the lightest on recoil, so I guess it makes sense.
